Really intrigued by this, I wonder if we'll see Feeney running the show with HK more of a figure head? What I hope it shows is a bit of ambition from Erin as I can't imagine HK would have come if he hadn't been promised a decent budget. Also and interesting statement on the club site:

I wonder if that line means a role for somebody like Bulman or Harrold, or are they talking about Morris?
i feel this is a desperate move by the club and Warren Feeney has hardly filled himself with glory either, i think i would have rather kept DD quite honestly and really unsure if i will buy a season ticket as we needed an experienced head coach / manager to take us to the next level and who can also sort out what DD didnt do in the back ground
Both young and inexperienced but I assume many top managers made some mistakes and poor choices while learning their trade. If we wanted the finished article we wouldnt be able to afford them and they wouldnt come anyway. At least a few months excitement which is more than we have had over the last three years of boring sterile football. Probably still an expensive option for Ziya and so would be nice for people to at least show a bit of faith and commitment themselves rather than wishing for a return to a tedious past?
Sorry about my pessimistic post, however this is a truly odd choice, when we need stability and someone who knows the league we get a prima donna footballer and an assistant who didnt have a club about how to win football matches
now i am more than happy to be wrong and will put my money where my mouth is at the bookies by saying we will get in the playoffs (i will cover myself off for relegation too though

Well Feeney did win Top Manager of the Week award from FL paper last year! With all sorts of issues at Newport it wouldnt have been an easy job either, especially for a newbie, even Westley couldnt hack it! He also had a good record with Linfield in Ireland.

I found that comment interesting, too. It sounds to me that it's someone not currently at the club, as if it was the case, you'd surely just name them?
As always I offer a welcome to our new club members. I hope you both have a happy and successful stay at Crawley.
Are they the right team? Gawd knows! We cannot afford the best managers so we have a choice. An up and coming person or a person who has been around and failed a few times. I know I would go for the untried and hope they will be up and coming. Others may differ.

Probably agree Jim, although I do find it strange we have made the announcement but no bodies to back it up in the way of photos of our new staff holding up the scarf etc? Maybe they had to bring the announcement forward a few days in light of everybody seemingly knowing anyway. That would be my big worry about HK though in that he has too much else going on (nightmares about the often absent Steve Wicks starting to come back to me!).
Now we know it's going to be Harry Kewell and his assistant Warren Feeny, little bit about them.......Harrys one and only managers job was Watford under 23 and That was not good, he never won a game from October to April and was consistently getting beaten by teams 8-0 and a lot of other poor results. On the back of that and his lack of commitment to the job,Watford let him go. He has an academy in Australia that's full time and at certain times has to be there, and that could cause a problem with us. I can't help think he was only given the job because of our owners, and his connection with Turkish football.(galatasaray) Then there is Warren who we all know from Newport who also did a poor job.......7 wins from 34 games, then got sacked!!!! So these are the two guys that are going to take our club forward,so where is the local guy that ziya wanted that knows the club and knows what the club means to the fans,so we get 2 men that have never even been to Crawley before apart from warren when he came with Newport FC to play us.in my opinion not a good appointment
Credit where it's due in revealing this information early on!
From what I can see, this post was the first source on the internet that revealed it.
Initially, I felt very skeptical that Kewell was the right man for the job. He bears some similarity to Drummy; he's a young manager with only experience of coaching youth football. However, unlike Drummy, he was not successful in his relatively short stint at Watford U23's and was sacked after poor results. Drummy, at least had some success at Chelsea. He is even more of a gamble than Drummy IMO.
On the other hand, after reading some more positive comments on him, on here and CTFC.net, on reflection he will bring us something different. He's a name that is relatively well known for his exploits in the Premier League, abroad and on the international stage. His name brings interest to our club and helps promote our club when we need to get our name out there to try and widen the appeal to what is a very small fanbase. I also tend to think that he is not the type of person that would want to come to a club on a low budget, both in terms of what he's gonna be paid given how much he'd have earnt in his career and the lifestyle he's accustomed to. Also, I think he'd want to spend a reasonable amount on players. Time will tell on that front pretty soon, when signings are made and the retained list if eventually published.
At the moment I'm still skeptical, but I think we should at least give him a chance and wait and see how the squad shapes up first...
The thing is your only as good as your recruitment,so the signing of players should be in the next month before pre season starts,so they can bed in,Harry is away for all of June so how is he going to do that how is he going to meet players and look them in there eyes and persuade then to join us,we finished 5th bottom so alot of the players are not good enough to make us push on,so we need to sign 8 to10 players for the squad,Harry is not going to know players for this level because he don't no it,if you read up on warren when he talked about signing the right players at Newport look what happend there when he signed his own players they was bottom of the league and he got sacked,I can't see how all the mechanics are going to work on this, time will tell.
HK is young and very ambitious so we are in for some interesting and hopefully exciting times ahead.
Harry's appointment has certainly given CTFC plenty of coverage in the Australian national press, websites, etc. HK was tipped for the head coach role at Newcastle Jets who play in the A-league and finished bottom last season, but the role at Crawley seems to be a more logical starting point given his ambition to manage at the highest level.
As an exiled Reds fan in Australia, it's going to be interesting to see how thing pan out and whether the interest down here continues and develops.
Given last year's final league position, I'm hopeful that the only way is up!
Last season fitness seamed a problem with some of our players I hope HK is better at getting his players fit that when he was playing himself. Still he will know all the excuse's and may be reasons why a player cant get to a certain level of fitness. I wish him well but I hope he has not got a long contract because if its not working out a Christmas we may need to change. But surly he cant be as bad as some of out past managers JG, RB etc.
To be honest...it was a tough job whoever got it. Get behind the new guy and the team.
Will be interesting to see what contacts young Harry has retained, that seem to be the key. If we can get some experienced pros or up and coming youngsters, all well and good.
OH and PLEASE keep someone up when we are defending corners

I seem to remember at Liverpool (and possibly elsewhere) his chant was a nice and simple 'Harry, Harry Kewell! Harry, Harry Kewell!" to the tune of 'Daddy Cool'.

Maybe... could be related to the development programme that has been talked about, there are a few with club connections that would be a fi... a personal view, apropos no basis whatsoever, but I wouldn't mind seeing Yemmsy here in a player recruitment role..
