Great result for Horsham, could we get them away???🤔 Shame Hastings didn’t get through, another that we played in the fourth qualifying round in October 1994, 1-1 away, then beat them 3-2 after extra time in the replay, after being 2-0 down. One of the best nights ever, and I mean ever.
If we ended up playing Horsham away I think that has to be picked for live TV coverage
As for other results involving localish teams, Dorking Wanderers drew 2-2 with Weston-super-Mare at Meadowbank, whilst eight-tier Chertsey lost 4-1 to Southend at Roots Hall. Former local rivals Aldershot suffered an embarrassing loss at Bowers & Pitsea
I noticed an awful lot of games have gone to replays
Yes I think I'd rather Horsham played a team like Sunderland, Bolton or Ipswich tbf, would be such a great reward for them
There's one team from the 8th tier (AFC Sudbury) who have definitely qualified for the first round, whilst Marine, Pontefract Collieries and Marske United have replays. Harrow Borough and Banbury United are other 7th teams to have booked places along with Horsham and Bowers & Pitsea. Think a home game against one of these teams is the ideal draw for me, as we should be able to do the job against them whilst maybe giving one or two of the players on the fringes of the first team a game. Would still play Morris in goal though no matter who we draw against as none of our reserve keepers I think are any good
and a tough one for us. At least it’s a home fixture and if I remember rightly it was a close run thing away there earlier in the season. So home advantage hopefully see us through to the next round. 🤞
Disappointing draw. Plenty of easily winnable games we could’ve had, but at least we are at home.
Hmmmmnnn... We have lost our fair share of easily winnable FA Cup games... ...and won many that our opponents likely thought were easily winnable too...!
Yeah I don't think it's too bad funnily enough as I know one or two people who support Tranmere, so hopefully they'll be able to come down for it. Plus a very good chance to get revenge on them for the league result at Prenton Park this month
I'd agree if I was in the Horsham camp I'd be a bit disappointed with their draw, might be a great opportunity to claim a league scalp though as Carlisle are in very poor form. Think Dorking v Sutton could be a very tasty match too (providing Dorking win their replay) and if it ends up being on a different day to our match because of TV deals I would probably go to that too
