Crawley Town play at home against Swindon Town in the 2021/22 EFL League 2, Saturday 19th March 15:00 kick off. Please keep all discussion about the match to this thread. Thank you and come on you Reds.
Great performance today and after the 5 at the back not really working out recently, the team made it work today against some decent wingers and striker. Ferry looked particularly good today and Glen made very important stops at 1-1,
A throughly enjoyable game in decent weather with a decent home following an a remarkably large away following of over 1,000 from Swindon! Amazing effort by the Swindon fans. I thought there was 500-600 Swindon fans. 1800 home fans not bad for us either shame we couldn’t have got over 2000 fans.
First half we started slowly and grew into the game as Swindon dominated possession, but didn’t really trouble us much. One decent chances for them early on, but our goal before the coincided with our best spell of the game.
Second half Swindon dominated possession early on and unsurprisingly equalised after a decent through ball. Felt Morris was indecisive there and made it easy for the Swindon striker as he started to come and then held back a bit leaving a gap for Swindon striker to slot it in. From there I feared the worst and one of Crawley 57s famous second half collapses as Swindon looked very threatening going forward. Crucial moment was a goal line clearance from Ludwig I believe who running towards his own goal and looked certain to score an own goal, but managed to readjust himself and clear the ball away just in time. Shortly after that we got a bit of luck with a deflected shot from Hutchinson in the area that deflected off the near post and across goal for Nichols to bundle into an empty net. That seemed to knock the stuffing out of Swindon a bit and towards the end they ran out of ideas and we played the game out well with Hutchinson scoring a scrappy close range second after Swindon lost their shape and sub Marshall was able to pick him out from a cross and he had time to strike a close range shot which squirmed past the keeper to seal the win 3-1.
A great result in the end against a good Swindon team. Number 20 Williams was a diving cheat who got booked for a dive and went down very easily, but looked a class above finding space and easily going past our midfielders were it not for a dreadful injury record he’d easily bring playing in the Prem or championship still. Swindon we’re no mugs and we were a bit fortuitous with a couple of goal line clearances and Swindon not making the most of their chances, but after the farcical goal against Exeter on Tuesday where Morris was pushed into the net and some poor results and performances, particularly at home, I feel we were due a bit of luck and a rare home win! A good game and we are safely in mid table now, let’s hope we can build on this and not let our season peter out and let’s finish in the top half.
Very enjoyable game this afternoon, first half went pretty well with Nadesan missing a couple of chances before Appiah's header (which to be honest if I was the Swindon keeper I'd be a bit disappointed not to save it). At one point I thought McKirdy was going to strip off entirely in front of our fans which thankfully didn't happen to that extent, but never seen that before to be honest. Also a shame about Powell getting injured too, after the game I saw him coming out wearing a support brace around his knee, but he told me he hopes to be back before the end of the season which is good.
First 25 mins or so of the second half was not good as our defence was split open on regular occasions and Swindon missed quite a few easy chances after their goal. Thankfully, when play stopped due to their player getting a knock that did wonders for us as it allowed the coaches to reorganise things again and take some steam out of the pressure we were facing. At this point I thought it was much more likely that they would score the next goal than us. However, some great poacher play from Nichols meant that the opposite happened and Hutchinson's late goal did wonders for my nerves
A bit similar to the Harrogate away game somewhat but a much needed result after three consecutive defeats (albeit one was due to a referee that was as useful as a plank of wood). However I hope next Saturday either Lynch or Tunnicliffe will be available to play just to shore up the defence a little

I thought the referee this afternoon was a lot better as at least he was correct with the key decisions he made (ie the penalty appeals). Aim is to try and finish in the top half again and as you said, a good finish to the campaign will be ideal as that will give everyone a lot of momentum and belief that we can have a go at promotion next term
Very enjoyable game in the sunshine and considering the make shift defence that really was an excellent performance. I thought Ludwig played far too high up field and our forward 3 players were superb. No one had a bad game though and hard to pick a MOM (because so many played well). The first goal was sensational and in front of the away fans it shut them up. Well played Crawley.
Enjoyable game. Must admit that at 1-1 I thought Swindon were all over us but the team stuck at it, got their tackles and blocks in and looked for passes to a team mate and got rewarded for our endeavour.
Their 10 was quality.
From a distance away it looked as though Francillette was lucky just to get a yellow for that foul in the middle. The ref had a lot better view than me so happy, in this instance, to bow to his better position. I must say the ref did appear to get pissed off with them as the game went on. Just need to get Yems to keep his gob shut for a while.
First time with won with a biggish crowd for a while. Happy bunny over here.
