I thought that Glen was to slow with his distribution this allowed their forwards to get in position to intercept passes. Corey is a lot quicker and accurate with his distribution. During the Charlton u23 PSF Corey was mixing up the distribution with quick passes at the back and also long kicks forward. Definitely under instruction from Betsy. 2nd half in todays game we appeared shy to shoot trying to pass the ball into the net. Aldershot provided us with the type of opposition we will meet many times this season. Looking forward to hear Kevin Betsy view of the game.
Steve, while not liking the tone of your post I have to agree with the content, most of us on the forum have watched Div 2 football with different managers for several years and most agree that playing tippy tappy football at the back does not work and from that standpoint we are in a better position to comment.

Exactly, who needs UEFA A licences when we’re way past the thousand post mark
Does anyone like the tippy tappy football? I guess we all do, or at least don't mind when we are winning, but having seen this management style before fail, the jury will always to some extent be out.
Hopefully all the mistakes will now be out of the way. I wonder if KB knows his best XI now?
Look its simple Simon the 11 that started today. What you should be asking is what'll happen 1st: relegation, Betsy sacked, Betsy resigns or fans chase Betsy out the club. This tippy tap football is boring, costly, fails to progress the ball, we aint a Champions league team are you really that stupid Betsy? Betsyball will not cannot get us up and outta this p1ss poor league and it pains me to say we would be better off with Yems. Yes Yems. At least his lump it up to the 5ft 2inch forward produced results over a season that kept us up. Betsy will need a brain transplant to do that at this rate. A non-league team score three goals in your sh1t system Betsy. SORT YOURSELF OUT!
F me. It’s only a pre-season friendly! Have you forgotten we gave two higher level teams a good match?

Personally I think it depends on how it is done. If it is combined with incisive passing with a purpose, then it’s great. If however it is simply passing it back and forth across the back 4/5, with the odd pass forward to a midfielder only for it to be passed straight back, then it’s pointless.
I’ve only been able to get to the QPR and Charlton games unfortunately, but when the players are confident, some of the play has been exciting. Question is whether the opposition will give us the time to play as we want.
I’d rather wait and see, rather than be pessimistic before the season’s even started like a certain person!
PSF are a time to try out new tactics and experiment. This has been generally successful although today taught us some lessons. Let’s hope we learn from our mistakes. We now have a squad of players who should give us a great season.

Yes I agree experiment and try things out but surely the starting 11 today were what KB has in mind to start at Carlisle? Last PSF isn't a great time to still be trying things out - at least we wont travel up north complacent.

Noticed Joel Lynch wasn't playing so not sure if that would be the starting XI for next week.
Anyway, disappointed with the afternoon but not too worried right now, it was a pre season game after all and they're all about experimenting with things and seeing who fits best etc. Could be a blessing in disguise though if it means the players won't be complacent about next Saturday as you said. Hopefully this will all be forgotten by this time next week
KB's reaction: The manager says "its our style" not quite sure that's true of all the players, but I also accept you should know them better than me. Its obvious he aint gonna change this style and points to a 1 v 1 at the other end if we can presumably move the ball out of the defensive area quickly upfront. The downside might of course be we 'invite' a 1 v 1 in front of our own goal and that worries me. He also refers to we need to score 4 goals, so will we see more 3-2, 4-3, 5-4, 5-3 sort of results this season? Well so long as we are scoring more than the opposition I'm sure the fans will be happy. Lets see. I've known many pre-seasons where the outcome pre-seasons has not reflected the seasons start at all, so anything is possible, but overall we have shown some great character against Hearts and QPR. The 'problem; may be establishing the first 11 which can be a good and troublesome thing all wrapped up in one. Depth and competition for places is something that has to be a positive more forwards but what I don't want to hear is we are still in the experiment stage - no we have had that and the real starts starts now. I have a string feeling Glenn will be number 2 this season and a hunch we have one big signing still coming. We done to the 70 Reds fans there today.
