Thought we were excellent tonight, everyone was clearly playing for their place and the shirt and none of them left anything on the pitch which was well noticed by us fans. We made a full strength Rovers side look quite ordinary and there was a much better balance between experience and youth. For me Ludwig, Hess and Craig were phenomenal and I thought Mazeed was very good in the first half particularly with his forward play. Addai again had a terrific game and looks a very good keeper. There were still a few heart in mouth moments playing around the back but overall the decision making seemed vastly improved. I am still very unsure on Conroy and personally don’t rate him from what I’ve seen so far, Kwesi was also not at his best tonight and gave the ball away too much.
Onto Harrogate and if we play like that…then we win! Let’s hope we build on this… COYR
Get in! Couldn't be there tonight sadly but sounds like it was a much improved performance. Interesting that almost all the outfield players who started were here last season, wonder if that made for a bit more cohesion.
Either way, fantastic stuff lads. Should give everyone a massive and much-needed boost.
It was a tight game - we had much the better of the first half, 3-4 good chances including Nichols missing a sitter.
Bristol started the second half the stronger and themselves had 2-3 really good chances to score. Then Nichols goal broke the game and we held them off to the end, as Orient did to us on Saturday.
That’s my feeling - we edged a tight game tonight, we lost a tight game on Saturday. That’s football. We shouldn’t have a huge schizophrenic swing of thinking it’s the end of the world with one of those results or that we are bloody brilliant with the other. We’re a work in progress, Betsy is looking at his players and finding his best combinations. Tonight he made a bit of progress but he needs time and space to make more, even if we drop games.
My greatest pleasure tonight wasn’t just the win but seeing our fans getting behind the team in a united way. That’s the way forward to help a young manager still right at the start of his career
And you could see exactly what it meant to Betsy and the whole bench when we scored, felt like a big weight had been lifted when that goal went in.
No Dom Telford in the Team or on the Bench Tonight.
I reckon he's had a big bust up with Betsy over the lack of service 1st 2 games.
Can you perhaps tell us in your own words how much you enjoyed Tony Craig’s performance tonight?
That was probably the best I think I've seen him play since he came here, didn't put a foot wrong at all. Think a lot of the players (especially the young ones) appreciate having him around for his leadership skills and today he answered quite a few questions I had about him going into this season
3 Shots on Target. A Big Improvement! But Unfortunately the Mickey Mouse Cup does not reveal anything because half the teams and half the players DONT GET UP FOR IT. We will know more this time next Tuesday!
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️Mickey Mouse Cup….when did a club think itself too big for a competition it’s only been in 12 times….

I'm sure 57(never been)away can tell us his favourite (attended) away games in this competition?
That was a huge improvement on Saturday. Tony Craig made a big improvement great defending and always looking to pass forwards and create an attacking move. Addai was commanding in goal and his distribution was excellent. Rovers put out a strong side and looked a threat going forward but our defence were magnificent. Good to see Ludwig back in the side. Play like this and we can win at Harrogate
It was a low crowd only 1800 odd , not sure why so low ?
Any ideas?
Probably because cup matches are not included in season tickets. On the plus side it means that all (or almost all) 1800 will be purchased tickets for that match.

He may be able to tell you but I can't.
Please can we stop the sniping and trolling? We won a game yesterday and it seems to be turning into a way to put the boot in on people you disagree with.
I quoted this part of the thread but there are others too. Every one has a point of view and the moderators did ask us not to do this.
I will disagree with Crawley57 on his post calling this the Mickey Mouse Cup though.

...because the opening two performances were so sterile from us?
The team should never forget they are in the entertainment business. If its boring fewer and fewer people will come.
Jim Baker
If there are fans that are genuinely bored 2 games into the season then it says more about them as football fans. Lets hope the players remember it's more of a results than entertainment business.
