Ahead of another potentially difficult game I wanted to be clear that there are many of us who feel that there is too much negativity on this forum based on what is only a few games so far this season. Its probably a small minority but they must realise that being supporters means at times putting up with difficulties. With a new leadership team, new management, new players its to be expected that it will take time to settle into a successful franchise - Rome wasn't built in a day as they say! Personally I would give Kevin at least a full season to prove himself and don't really care where we finish as long as it above the bottom two - this year is a formative year and we need to take the rough with the smooth. Ideally we would fly away and in a fairy tale get promoted this year but in reality that's unlikely to be on the cards and we need to support everybody involved and appreciate the efforts being put in to make us a better run club.
Kevin has already had longer than the Rochdale boss. Sacked already. It's unrealistic you'll ever get everyone in agreement and totally behind the team all the time. We also love a good ole moan. Part of being British isnt it? I very much doubt Kevin will be under any pressure at all unless we are in the drop zone or thereabouts after Christmas. We have far far far too much quality in the squad and we'll come good. Why not start Saturday? We are getting forward more, creating more chances and with a bumoer crowd if we can get behind thd lads Im sure we can lift them to a much needed win. Would set things up very well for Fulham. COYR.

Thought Stockdale had been at Rochdale for 13 months?
But I do take your point. There are some fans whose football experience is to really love a good moan-up. It's like a release from everyday regimented life where often you may be forbidden to moan (at work, at bosses and so on). I have no problem with this, in fact these fans are often really funny to be around. We can all see how this works on this forum, there are posters who have moaned at every manager who has ever walked through the door over the past few years - and fair play, there are no axes being grinded here at least, they just love moaning.
But I'm a little worried there may be something else going with Betsy that hasn't happened with previous managers in recent years at least. Is he copping a lot of flak from people who don't like the new owners and don't like what's happened with the Yems situation? Exaggerating any current problems to an absurd degree as a little bit of payback to the club? That would be a very sad situation for Kevin Betsy if so, as he obviously had nothing to do with how the job became vacant, nor did the new players or our longer established ones.

Although the Rochdale boss was there all last season too.
I'm sympathetic to him as Rochdale are also a selling club. Bit different to Crawley - after yesterday's two signings I believe the first team squad on the website is back to 39 excluding the 3 out on loan.
But surely if we finish lower than 12th we've gone backwards. Finishing 22nd would be a disaster and the crowds would dwindle and the next season take up on season ticket's would almost certainly go down....if we are still in the bottom 4 by Christmas it would be hard to get excited about the future. That said there are some on here who still say we are making progress. As for the size of the squad...is this the norm in league 2?
As long as you can see improvement and what they are trying to achieve in terms of playing style, it is too soo soon to make a judgement. Personally feel the have oo many playersj and need to get a squad of 22 players sorted out quickly. Then develop them into the first team squad. Then we need to train to play the system they want. Too early to judge but we need to show improvement and get points on the board.

It’s not the norm, most are operating from 20-28. It’s nearly double the size of some premier league squads!

Not sure how you keep that many players happy.
If you are not being selected and have little chance of playing where will the motivation be?
To a squad of 22 is needed 2 players for each position plus a reserve keeper, the wages we must be paying will be huge.

I’m sure we had this discussion about a bloated squad plenty of times last season too. The reality is back then there were plenty of development players who Yems judged not ready for League 2, whether he was right or wrong, it was his call to make. This season we have a formal B team so again those players will be some way off first team selection unless they start pulling up trees. The B team guys won’t be on a lot of money as with last season’s development players
I think the moaners (like me) may have believed the hype put out by the new owners. A promise of visible progression on and off the pitch this season has morphed into a team that has had fewer shots then any of their opponents* !
I will never shout out at one of our players. I have never asked for a manager to be sacked but I reserve the right to call it crap to my friends around me in the ground and on here.
It's been poor so far. Let's hope today is better.
* I did think we had outshone Harrogate and Bristol Rovers but checking the stats it seems I was incorrect.

And that's why we have the forum... for difference of opinion!
You think it's been crap and poor to date where as others including myself disagree, unfortunately if you're using the stats to base your opinion after actually watching the games then there's no hope, if you don't think we outshone Bristol Rovers then you wont be satisfied all season. Steve and other posters have made their point but it just seems you want to see the perfect performance every game and not actually realising that in these first few games we have been making steady progress.
I just find it hard to understand the level of scrutiny 4 games into the new season and after a good cup win. I guess it comes down to each individual but I for one enjoy the football a lot more when I have a positive outlook rather than always looking for negatives.

Fully agree with you Jim. I may think it’s crap but I will always support them. That’s the beauty of football. We have to watch some right rubbish sometimes and feel a bit down but it makes those special moments magical.
