Betty almost comes across to nice. You need an edge to get the team on edge. They play most of the games like they are stoned or something. For me to play two local early season rivals Leyton Orient and Wimbledon and deliver those performances is criminal. He's brought in a load of youngsters with no experience and trying to play under 23 football where players don't tackle and the pace is sedate. I hope I am wrong but this is likely to end in disaster. We def need a Director of Football. The owners must be wondering what on earth they have let themselves in for. Rochdale away is crucial imo if we lose that we are firmly bottom and even after 6 or 7 games its very difficult historically to turn a season around.
It’s not my style to boo the manager or players. I’d maybe understand if it was lack of effort but I don’t think that’s the main problem here. Some of the players we mentioned that are injured are nearly always injured and considering we have a squad of 39 and some teams in our division can’t even get enough to fill the bench I can’t see how injuries are a valid excuse for the performances. Some people on here saying Betsy had his hands tied by the club giving out new contracts before he arrived and then saying we shouldn’t judge him because some of those same players are now injured! Don’t forget 19 new players signed I think maybe only Nadesan over ago of 25. The most bizarre transfer policy I’ve ever known. Don’t forget we now have one of the top budgets in the league so even if the existing players were given a rise Betsy still had plenty of budget to work with.
7 senior players out should we cut Kevin some slack?
No.
All teams get injuries that is why we have squads.
Manager's moaning about injuries is deflecting the issue.
The issue as Nicko said in the after match interview is, "we did not turn up".
Simple as that.
Let's look forward to Tuesday against Fulham and if we win that, yesterday v Wimbledon will be a distant memory.
NOLI CEDERE
From memory, JY had to cope with at least this many injured if not more for most of last season. Of course it’s disruptive and there may be many reasons for it, whether it is having injury prone players or training on an artificial surface etc. Whatever team we put out, I’m afraid that we should not be handing the advantage to the opposition by playing hospital passes in our own penalty area and gifting goals to the other side. If we have an inexperienced team who lack the confidence and ability to do this then don’t do it.

I thought the transfer policy under the previous owners was worse tbh (when trials and contracts seemed to be handed out like confetti when we didn't have a reserve time in place at the time). Was it someone on here that said there were 50 players at training one week last season?

Contracts like confetti really? Yems was working on a shoestring, couldn’t even afford enough footballs for training. If we were handing out contracts like confetti to a load of duds, Yems must have been a genius to get us mid table. On the contrary, I think between the owners and Yems they managed to put together a decent side for this level which wasn’t miles short of being able to compete for promotion. Had the right mix of experience and also a few but not too many younger players that we took a gamble on. Compare this to the current owners plan if you can call it a plan.

I think for me the problem was how many players we had on the club's books in the previous couple of seasons who never played that was an issue (especially with no B team). Considering we had one of the smaller budgets in the league at that time it didn't make any sense as that money which was being spent on player wages could have been invested in other areas

If we had a small squad, yes. However with almost 40 first team players on the website it sounds more like an excuse.
It’s a good point, and goes without saying the bigger the squad the bigger the injury list. if we had a squad of 25 then 7 out would put us under strain. However, 7 out and we still have have 33 players to get a decent starting 11 out. We could alway change formation or style if we are short in a certain area. Short on centre backs? Play 2 rather than 3. Centre backs lacking experience? Don’t ask them to play their way out of trouble. It’s a simple game really.

Yes Yems also had the same injury problems and what happened? We lost games with poor performances and went months without a win at the Broadfield. On at least 2 or 3 different occasions last season Yems was confronting fans in the stands in massive stand-ups rows. Most sensible fans saw all that going on and kept out of it. On a lot of occasions last season, the team took big steps forward in away games, the atmosphere at the Broadfield was a very mixed thing at times. Nobody remember what is was like after we conceded 4 at home to Port Vale? Surprising really, given it was only about 9 months ago.
What's happening so far this season is similarly poor proformances are being hyped by fans unhappy at the ownership/Yems situation here, trying to generate a sense of crisis that after 5 games and the date reading August 20 is obviously a bit over-hysterical. I doubt if Betsy will ever win these fans over as they are grinding axes that aren't about football but he certainly knows what he has to do to quieten them down, win games. It may take time and a few more little dramas where our players have to improve without the backing and "lift" from fans that most League 2 teams like Wimbledon would take for granted, but wins will change everything.
It's luck for Betsy that our next game is so quick and expectations will be realistic for most of us, but the Fulham game was of course what our players who are currently being pillioried on here earned fully through their own good play

And when we gave new deals to Joel Lynch and Nick Tsaroulla I'm sure the club realised they weren't 40 games a season players.
Positives The owners have ploughed a lot of money in The pies are very good
Negatives Can't be fixed but it takes too long to get a beer after 1.30pm You can't play tippy tappy footbal in Div 4 Betsy ball ain't working Fans having a go at the team and staff wrong but understandable. Too many injuries for two seasons. Down to artificial pitch at Horsham?
Any pitch they trained on at the moment would be like concrete in fact the Horsham pitch might be softer. Towards the end of games we do seem to look like we are running on empty so are the injuries because we are not fit enough but players are trying to hard in training. The fitter you are the harder you can train and the better you play in matches, just a thought.
