If you're in the more time or sack him now school of thought you have to admit Betsy is in danger.

Not really because most clubs aren't run by the trigger-happy types who clearly run these tiny minority of clubs here. Outliers do not constitute a trend, as my old teacher used to say

Colchester seem to change their manager regularly in recent years, and always just bring in someone who already works at the club or a former player whenever that happens.
Hartlepool have now confirmed Keith Curle as interim manager
Curle is an odd one. Seems to get clubs out of trouble but seems to fall at the last hurdle at the other end of the table...obviously not 100% either way but a trend.
You can hardly call the Colchester owners the trigger happy type but have it your way Steve.
Just seen Morrison has been sacked by Cardiff as well. I imagine an ex player of ours may be happy about that .

Why not? I’ve read the statement by Colchester and they do a weird thing of being defensive in admitting the sacking will be regarded by many of their fans as harsh. They at least have some self awareness that they’ve made a decision that will divide their fan base. They have some self awareness about how tinpot it makes them look to the outside.
Generally you have to peer a little deeper at the real reasons why owners make these decisions. Often it’s very little to do with playing record but merely that the relationship between owner and manager is not right. Some bad early results put the strain on it and it is revealed.
You then have to consider what the situation is here. Is there any real signs that Crawley owners and Betsy have a dysfunctional relationship? I’d submit there is zero evidence of that
I have never said that Betsy and our owners have a dysfunctional relationship. Do you know something I don't?
If you would like a deeper reason for Brown's sacking how about this from a Colchester supporter...I quote
"Brown has been backed, the chairman has said it is a top 10 budget and it is very out of character for him to pull the trigger so early, so he must have more expectation this season/be genuinely concerned about relegation. If we were to drop, his heavily-invested academy project would be dead so it isn't something he can really afford to take chances with."
So a manager who has been backed but the team's position or the level of expectation causes genuine concern...hmm. Sound familiar?
I know you feel you have to back the management at every opportunity Steve but by pretentending there is no cause for concern about our start to the league season and this start puts no pressure on the manager is baffling.

What's baffling to me Jim, is why there is such a vocal minority calling for Betsy's head when we are more or less where we are every year and showing some signs of real promise given time. If we keep chopping and changing, we will never get the level of stability we need to make real progress.

What is it with you and Steve? Anybody says anything remotely negative about Betsy/the team/the club, and you're both calling them a baying mob demanding Betsy he sacked. Jim hasn't said anything of the sort, just that KBs position may well be under threat if results don't improve. A statement of fact, that's all.
I accept you have a head in the sand approach to the team's performances this season. I don't accept Steve's weird conspiracy theory about pro-Yems people trying to get KB sacked. And I wonder how long it will take him to realise our very decent cup wins so far this season won't actually prevent us getting relegated. Our league form is atrocious, and it's not improving quickly enough to stop people worrying about relegation.
I believe Betsy can turn things around. But he really needs to hurry up about it. I will continue to back him and the team win lose or draw. COYR
I was having a discussion on a Twitter space last night with a few others about Betsy and the poor performances we have seen so far this season. For me, the main issues have not been the style of play (you don't have to resort to long-ball tactics or rugby tackles to do well in this league anymore, the teams that did well last season apart from Sutton weren't like that at all the times I saw them) but the execution of it, as well as little things like not leaving a man on the halfway line when defending corners or players sometimes being afraid to take shots. The build up play has been too slow at times and is reminiscent of Manchester United under Louis Van Gaal, and when it is like that teams will find it very easy to defend against. I will say I think we are looking a lot better defensively than in recent seasons but with the attacking talent we have up front we should be scoring way more goals then we are at the moment.
I want Betsy to prove us wrong and turn the form around, but if it's looking worrying in late October serious questions will have to be asked sadly. What I hope doesn't happen is for Betsy to be let go without any plan put in place for what would happen in that scenario (which for me is either having someone like Lewis Young as interim or hiring a Brachiosaurus type manager like Westley, Sheridan or Hill because they are 'experienced')
I dont know why the mob is baying for his head. It's something I've never done and dont intend to start but I'm with Northgate Red on this. Burying our heads and pretending everything smells of roses when we have 6 points out of 27 doesn't help.

Edit. Just seen Steve98's post. Got to agree. We play too slow and we have a habit of passing to a player which leaves that player no option but to go backwards (playing the ball behind him sort of thing). First things first though. We are often second to the loose ball. Need to change that.
