Club bottom of the league. A mish mash of two (very) different managers squads. Injuries all over the place.
I think it might be a choice of who wants to come not of who we want to come.
Dave Artell, Grahame Alexander. Northern based. Tisdale has failed since leaving Exeter. Keith Hill ...really and Darren Fergusson only succeeds at Posh.
Unless wagmi have a plan (a change is as good as a rest) they have to hope some good people apply and get a football person to interview them.

There is as far as I'm aware ONLY one EFL club looking for a manager there will be a long queue of applicants (whether many are any good is another matter)

Actually there are five though the other four will be looking at a different set of possible candidates to Crawley. You are quite right though, there will be a long queue of applicants as there is for every managerial vacancy. The only one on that list I would consider is David Artell. Graham Alexander's managerial statistics disguise the fact he has ultimately failed in all four of his permanent posts. But I have stated earlier in this thread the man I would choose, always presuming Crawley Town is a financially stable organisation. I wouldn't want lightening to strike the hapless chap a third time.
The man I'd choose is ridiculed by many but I believe he'd be an excellent appointment. Sol Campbell has been manager at two clubs. Both times he has had the financial rug pulled from under his feet within weeks of taking the job. At Macclesfield he kept the club in the league despite many weeks when the players and he went unpaid. At Southend the task was too great and the deep-seated mess that club was in has been evidenced by their subsequent decline. I believe Sol Campbell with his assistants Andrew Cole and Hermann Hreidarsson (though the latter is currently managing in Iceland) would not only guide Crawley Town to safety this season, he'd have you at the right end of the table next.

Ideal option would be Edwards but yeah, seems very unlikely he'd go from trying to get Watford into the PL to trying to keep us out of the NL. He's also being heavily linked with Championship clubs. Hopefully he's a huge fan of NFTs.
Could Liam Rosenior be an option? Potential danger of having another inexperienced manager (though the same is true of Young) but many seem to think he was most of the brains behind Rooney's admirable job at Derby.
Wouldn't be against Alexander, but also wouldn't read anything into betting odds given Betsy wasn't even on the longlist of the bookies until he basically already had the job.

New Manager markets are the most inaccurate in football. Although only small amounts tend to be accepted they are still good income generators for the bookmakers. It's quite usual for there to be four or five odds-on favourites before the successful candidate is appointed; and as you point out in Betsy's case it's often someone no-one had mentioned. I think Alexander would be an uninspiring appointment and he'd be very fortunate to get a fifth crack of the whip.

The same Darren Ferguson who got Doncaster promoted from League 2?

Doncaster shouldn't have been in league 2 so in my book promotion with them doesn't count.
Its the same with Bradford. Shouldn't be here and their perpetual failure to get promoted is a source of wonder.

You're not making any sense. Why shouldn't Bradford be in L2? They are there because that's the position their results have earnt them. And Doncaster's promotion doesn't count? Why? If you're going to say you think these clubs are/were too big for L2, then presumably you don't think little old tinpot Crawley Town should be in the FL at all.
Trying to make a point about the size of the club relative to their position. They deserve to be in league 2, and so do we, based on results.
Doncaster and Bradford are clubs that, due to their size, shouldn't be in league 2. The same could be said for Crawley. We are punching above our weight. Those two not.
There are rumblings against the Donny manager because they are not in the automatic promotion places. We have fans saying Betsy shouldn't have been sacked and we are bottom.
Getting those two clubs back to levels the club size and support says they should be at should not be seen as such a success as getting Morecambe into league 1 or Sutton into league 2.

Ah ok. Understood. It's funny, we have had 5 rookie managers in a row, no prior FL management experience between them, KB is the only one who hasn't got to grips with things and as a result we are bottom of the league. The other 4, despite all their inexperience, managed to keep us safely in L2. I do think we need the new gaffer to have experience of managing in L2, as the owners don't have a scooby, and I'm not sure about the DoF either. Since he's come in, we've hit rock bottom, and sacked the manager. Not the most auspicious start for him is it?
