I'm surprised to see Lewis Young leading this poll but as loyalty has been in short supply lately, I'm still pleased to see this is how people have voted. However, I would go the opposite direction now from an inexperienced No 1 and pick someone with a few years' hard grind as a No 1 at this level. Otherwise I don't really see the point of making the change we've just made.
More surprised to see Edwards being mentioned given he's favourite for Championship vacancies.
The reality is if you sack a manager midseason, what you are left with is an unexciting pick of other recently sacked managers. I would favour Artell over Alexander as I thought he always did more with less.
What a relief! I can’t think that we’ve ever had a worse manager, took a good set of players, given double the budget and won 1 game in 12. One of the challenges going forward is that Betsy signed nearly 20 players, most of which are clearly not l2 standard. Did we need a 40 man squad? This was a little naive from our owners giving Betsy so much support with him having no track record. Next manager has a massive task and I hope it goes well for Lewis at the start. I’m sure the players will get a lift now.
The same Darren Ferguson who got Doncaster promoted from League 2?
Doncaster shouldn't have been in league 2 so in my book promotion with them doesn't count.
Its the same with Bradford. Shouldn't be here and their perpetual failure to get promoted is a source of wonder.

The pyramid is packed with big clubs at levels they shouldn't be at. In L2 - Orient, Swindon, Mansfield, Doncaster, Carlisle, Bradford, Grimsby, Tranmere, Northampton have all been much higher in the pyramid. Same as pretty much every division from the National League upwards.
Bradford are in their 4th season in L2 and Hughes is the 5th manager in that time.
However because Ferguson got promotion from L2 it doesn't count? What about Chris Wilder, took over Northampton at the bottom of L2 and got them promoted 2 years later. Does that count or another one that fails your test?

Chris Wilder gets my Vote. Lets have Over-Lapping Centre Halfs, because lets face it our Midfielders cant create Diddly! Over Lapping Centre Halfs might get us 4 shots on Target Per Game!
Simon, we can disagree. It's not a problem but Wilder took a team that was bottom and are a league 2/league 1 club and turned them around. Ferguson took a top of league 1 club and got them promoted. As an example of what I mean...
I always say that Steve Evans best year for us was not the promotion season but the ones before where we didn't have a pot to piss in and he managed us to a top half finish.
Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about but that is my view.

Let's go through the entire list of managers from the top two tiers for extended laughs. Does Mourihno fancy a final challenge in English football?

I agree - that was a remarkable insight into the way Evans operated. We got absolutely annihilated by Halifax one home game so Evans decides to go and recruit nearly half their team
That Simon Weatherstone Lewis Killeen team was full of small skilful players, throw in the likes of Thomas Pinault and Jamie Cook and it wasn't a team that was big enough to go long and direct. The silky football they played was some of the most enjoyable I've seen at the Broadfield, even tho it didn't have the real firepower as you say Jim to be anything except just outside the play-offs. At the same time, Evans was watching out the corner of his eye Stevenage charge up the leagues with a style of crash, bang, wallop football that few teams could resist. And so the rest was history . . .
Actually Evans' current table toppers are not pure long ball either, they mix it up quite well, as you really have to with a cultured footballer like Jordan Roberts as the playmaker up front. We still played 'em off the park in the second half recently but of course that will all go down the memory hole now.
Our choice of managers is poor and extremely limited due to
1) Any experienced manager (like Holloway for example) wouldn't touch us if Wagmi were still relying on their entrepreneurial approach (an approach I fully support). If they do decide to come its either just for the money or they are desperate to get another chance having failed elsewhere.
2) Another inexperienced hire smacks of double or even treble standards as we had that with Kevin and Dan and couldn't manage to support the guys longer than a mere blink of an eye when things were not working.
I also disagree a manager's life is tough as they are one of the few people who get paid for failure and many make a career out of it and earn more failing than they ever could succeeding.
Back to the beautiful day outside while my positive mood remains!

And those Halifax players plus all the others you mention were not recruited on a shoestring, as per the myth, they would’ve cost a lot money which we didn’t actually have, but spent anyway.
