Some people need to get a grip. We havnt got the physical input Accrington have. They are higher up the pyramid for a reason. We improved 2nd half in a tough game. Yes cup glory is great but we need to sort out league status out. Give Lewis Young the job. We can bounce back and hammer those dirty northern b@stards from Barrowland. After a tough other game up north of course.

Accrington are now used to playing a division higher than us and it often showed, but I was delighted with the commitment the players showed right to the end. We came very close several times in the second half and if a couple had gone in we might have had a grandstand finish. We did trouble their defence on occasion, particularly through Fellows. He looks a pretty decent catch. On another day we might have got lucky but, in truth, Accrington were worth their win - but it didn't feel like a 4-1 game. That's the way it goes sometimes. Out of two cups now so maybe we can focus on our promotion push

Agreed Paul 100% the players kept going right until the end we just got outplayed, they won every ball and pressed high and fast.
Wasn't really impressed with Accrington as a higher league side, they regularly gave the ball away but were good at harrying and were sometimes tidy on the ball but mainly were really up for it from minute 1. We were simply so poor in all areas that any league 2 team never mind league 1 team would have beaten us, passing, positioning, communication, final ball...all poor today. The first goal was completely self inflicted, Craig dallied on the ball from our centre, gave away the throw, they threw to the completely unmarked player in the centre of midfield who had the time and space to thread a nice ball through allowing a shot, keeper saved the first shot and they got the second ball first. Good cross, won second ball and back post header finished well by Hess summarised the only real threat in the first half the final ball was so poor. 3rd Accrington goal embarrassing, corner played to unmarked player just inside area who again had time and space to finish. Powell ran at the ref complaining, don't know why, maybe he was impeded??? Some of the officiating was poor, the lino seeing Craig with blood dripping down his face been seen to by medical staff made no attempt to get the referees attention and both official failed to see several fouls by their players, shirt pulling, holding but as fans in the west stand we probably had a better view. 4th goal, defenders stood standing with their arms raised as their player strolled through and slotted past the keeper. Even in junior football you play to the whistle, sadly we didn't. 15 mins later we tried the same trick again but this time we got the decision. Got to give it to Craig, he doesn't even look, just stops, sticks his hand up for offside and hopes his complete confidence convinces the officials. Second half Fellows made some penetrating runs but we repeatedly failed to play the ball quick enough and very good chances turned into half chances. Oteh, Telford and Chuk made minimal impact and I have no idea why Nichols was still on at 90 mins as the game was lost 30 mins earlier and surely he should have been rested as he's such a key plays who never stops trying to make things happen. Director of football was talking about player burnout in the Twitter chat with Preston and Andy and how we need to get better at the timing and impact of subs, specifically how the players were unable to keep going in the second half at Bradford they gave so much in the first, but subs were late in the game. Got to hope they turn up for the Burnley game otherwise it could be a bigger scoreline. Thought we really missed Tilley today, he has really been a driving force this year.
Replacing young is not utter nonsense peespottage it's a opinion I'm entitled to.
And peespottage is entitled to his opinion that you're talking bobbins.
Lewis Young has had his chance - a decent run - but when you look at it closely we have conceded 12 goals in 6 games (2 goals per game conceded) is not acceptable especially when 3 of the 6 games were against poor opposition. Who in their right mind except peespottage would want that in charge of CTFC?
He created some new excitement for awhile, but has not done DIDDLY for the defence!
Second best in every department, slow to tackle and move the ball forward.
Accrington were very decent and didn't stop chasing. Their number eight, Tommy Leigh was on a different level to everyone else on the pitch.
Fair play to Accrington, I hope they get a decent draw on Monday.

Agree we were second best all over the pitch today but Accrington’s time wasting from the second minute really got on my nerves. The officials were diabolical in letting them get away with it.

You must be easily pleased Paul. A tepid performance lacking effort and energy. I may have missed it but did they announce a man of the match? If not assume because nobody deserved it. Fair play to Accrington, a team similar to us in support etc but probably less well funded - they wanted it more and deserved it.
