Their 4th looked clearly offside, add it to the long list of terrible decisions we’ve endured this season.
When you watch the highlights you will see it wasn’t offside.
Agree (I haven't got var though), the first was offside though.
When you watch the highlights you can see what an awful job we did of defending yesterday. With the caveat that all goals can be prevented somehow: all four goals should have been prevented.
Althogh I think the first was offside the move was created by us giving the ball away and then not closing down properly. Then, after the save, Craig is standing still waving his hands about which allows their midfielder a clear run on goal.
The second was all about given a decent player time on the ball to pick out a player pulling off the back off a defender. Close down the crosser, stay tight to your man in the box.
The third was criminal defending from a corner. Powell allowed himself to be blocked off but where was the man who was marking the blocker going? A simple shout of swap and that goal is stopped. At the game this was the one I was most annoyed with but it is a good corner routine they have obviously practiced so you have to give them credit for pulling it off.
The fourth was a chip over the top that caught Craig trying to step up after our back line had become a back zig zag.
Young has said a few times that he is unhappy with conceding too many goals but it doesn't look as though we have done much on the training ground yet.
Just be fair. That was a brilliant header back across goal by thir player when Hess scored..
Yes, Accrington's 4th was comfortably onside. It was a needless yellow card for arguing about it. If you view it on youtube there is a setting to play a video at one quarter speed. This makes it easier to freeze frame at the key moment. On the day I had no idea if the lino was right because I was in the wrong part of the ground. There seems to have been a query about their first goal too, but although I wasn't in line, the Accrington player looked to be played on by a defender out of camera angle. That's how it looked from where I was standing, anyway.
Yesterday's performance was a step back to the Betsy days but every manager who ever he is has these setbacks let's just be thankful it was not a league game. I for one would have loved a good cup run but you can't have everything so let's see what the next league game brings.
Second best in every department, slow to tackle and move the ball forward.
Accrington were very decent and didn't stop chasing. Their number eight, Tommy Leigh was on a different level to everyone else on the pitch.
Fair play to Accrington, I hope they get a decent draw on Monday.

Agree we were second best all over the pitch today but Accrington’s time wasting from the second minute really got on my nerves. The officials were diabolical in letting them get away with it.
Since we won promotion to L1 up there - wonderful away day that was! - we have been pretty crap against Accrington. So I didn't expect us to win on Saturday, but I did expect a better performance than we got. Oh well. Concentrate on the league, and survival (once we have dumped Burnley out the Carabao Cup )
Saw the goals on the highlights and it wasn’t great,4th goal was a total shambles with 2 players missing a simple header and then our defender defending like a Sunday league player needlessly playing their striker onside from a simple ball over the top. If I was Young I’d be absolutely furious about that goal!
I forgot to mention. Again don’t like ripping on players but Johnson truly was woeful, he doesn’t take any player on, hesitates too much on the ball and gave it away so many times against Accrington. I think he needs a loan move asap at a lower level.

Crazy that KB binned off Archie Davies.....not sure who we have that can play RB in place of Johnson. Obviously Francomb can play there but we need him in midfield.
We are a bit light on quality full backs at present, something for Lewis and the DoF to look at in the January transfer window hopefully.

100% agreed, Brandon Mason was meant to be competition for Tsaroulla not sure what’s happened there, Davis is pretty good but doesn’t play often enough and plays more of a midfield role. Definitely need a solid wing back in the next window. Need someone who’s a consistent workhorse like Mat Sadler used to be for us

I think Davies was let go before Betsy came in which is a shame because I think he’s better than anyone we have now. Yems didn’t give him much game time for some reason.

Yes i think you're right. Whoever got rid of him it was a major balls up.

I wasn’t at the game, but I’ve been to almost every other home game this season and whenever I’ve seen Johnson play he looks like a liability. He might be a good player in the not too distant future, but right now he doesn’t look like he plays with confidence.
We don't have a suitable alternative to Johnson. Francomb is needed in midfield, or else he could play there. Otherwise it's wingers/wing backs. I would prefer us to play with a regular back four. We have plenty of CBs - some of them are even fit! Maybe Mazeed can play RB?
With Davies and Gallacher gone, we need the full back positions looking at in January, whoever the manager is. I think Tsaroulla is ok at LB, but not everyone on here agrees. Definitely think we will see a few shipped out on loan come January. The squad is even more bloated that last season's and I didn't think that was possible.
