"If we can bring a few new faces in then great, but if not then it’s not a problem for me."
I suppose the positive is that we've seen them play together and know what they are capable of producing on occasions...
on the other hand... I suppose the negative is that we've seen them play together and know what they are capable of producing on occasions...!
The thing is also I suppose HK is fairly keen/grateful to have the chance to show what he can do and so is more amenable to taking what he is given rather than somebody like Steve Evans who wants an ever larger pot of gold before he will take a job. Also he probably thinks that even with this lot he will back himself to do better than the last couple of seasons of dross and so doesnt have a very high base to move up from. And whatever Selim says it is still about showing a statement of intent to aid selling season tickets/generating interest which you want to get going at an early stage before people decide on other options?
The potential is there - although last season there was an over-reliance on Collins & Morris - too many poor results were the consequence of bad decision making and individual errors, simply cutting that out will make a big difference. Most of our failings were fairly elementary and in too many instances opposing teams weren't that much better than us but were stronger and more organised, hopefully Bulman will address part of that equation.
But the good news for Harry is that it is not rocket science, the players know each other well enough so coaching out some of those bad habits and a bit more fitness can quickly improve aspects that he can build on and also make sure that everyone knows what their individual role is... basic stuff really..!
We're crap and nearly all of them need to go or I'm happy with the squad. We have some very good players here?
Which one is better for the morale off the players?
Jim Baker
Fair point Jim. He could've also added something like 'we'll be looking to add more quality to the squad'. That way he'd have been respectful to the squad we've got while also showing his intent to improve and try and encourage some excitement and enthusiasm for the season ahead.

Its partly due to bad decision making and individual errors that these players are playing at the level they are.
I don't think this can be improved greatly enough over a season to make a difference.

Bullman might highlight the number of passengers we carry in a game in red shirts but one player arguably going down in his footballing career path wont change our fortunes. Didnt many think Cox would be just that saviour but turned out to be no better or worse than the rest of the team.

I didn't post that he would single-handedly change our fortunes, I highlighted two areas where we were often deficient in the middle last season and even in the twilight of his career, he unquestionably has the right attributes and the attitude to improve things... strength & organisation.
I think DeeDee was a hostage to fortune with Cox, he had blown the January budget on him and likely that meant he had to play him even when he was not fit or sharp enough. We'd been on a decent run up to that point and it likely lost us momentum as a team too. He was neither fish nor fowl out wide and was too often peripheral to the main action. I thought he had more impact in the last few games, he finally showed the energy & mobility to be more of a nuisance particularly in and around the area.
I see on the Observer website that Steve Herbert in his (ultra positive!) piece has suggested Matt Harrold has signed for 1 year (and deservedly according to Steve!!! Is that for services in stopping the medical staff getting bored?). Has this actually been officially announced, must admit if it has I think the money could be much better spent elsewhere on someone younger and with a better injury record.

I don't think it does. Just that he has been offered a new deal.
Strange article though, says that Lewis Young deserves to stay but then 2 lines later that he is a liability at full back and unlikely to displace Roberts or Boldewijn in midfield. Is he going to sell tickets or programmes I wonder?
If the info from the old site is correct then we will all have to wait for the outcome of the offers for the following seven players whose contracts expire in June 2017, Young, Harrold, Clifford, Roberts, Blackman, Tajbakhsh and Arthur, they have not yet been subject to a released or retained statement from the club although we know offers have been made to Young and Harrold, so we will just have to wait
