Just watched the opening goal a few times on the highlights, for me that's got to be a contender for goal of the season, it shows what can happen when players have a shot at goal instead of faffing around in squares, triangles and circles without the confidence to chance their arm, if HK gets a knighthood this season then the new improved Young should be in line for at least an OBE
More shots = More goals
As much as i wanted that effort from Lewis Young to go in, it hit the bar and was a tap in from Jimmy Smith. Great assist by Lewis though. Its great to see us have a go from that far out.
Thoroughly enjoyed that. Lincoln do what they do very well, but it ain't pretty. It was clear that they were baiting Yorwerth, and given past history, that he would swallow the bait. But he kept his head, making Rhead look foolish. Here's hoping the Forest Green performance is a vast improvement on the Luton game. I'd be happy with a point.
Lincoln had two decent players - Bostwick, who is still a class act, although there is no resemblance to that clean-cut youth who used to turn out for us.. and Pett who has got quick feet and a quick brain, but really needs a quick exit from Lincoln - the rest were the barge, bash & bully brigade...
..however, despite that, we seemed to end up winning far more than our fair share of possession and then made intelligent use of the ball.
We came out on top in every aspect and that is so pleasing, because Lincoln were precisely the sort of strong, functional & direct outfit, who - over the last few seasons - have been coming to our patch and nicking an ugly win off us..!

I thought Lincoln were similar to Port Vale who we played first game. Both teams had big players who thumped and bullied us whenever possible.
Back them HK was caught out by this, but now he has the team in a place where we give like for like. Much better resiliance.
Tolstoy originally wrote a three act play called грязные танцы (gryaznyye tantsy), which was superficially a boy meets girl tale, but was actually a subtle allegory about the soviet authorities (portrayed by the sheriff in the film version) total repression regarding music & dance and the subversive impact of western cultural imperialism. The most famous scene is where the heroine is defiantly held aloft, which made a neat Hollywood ending... although in the original the pair were dragged off to a gulag by the secret police.. they were unrepentant though and in the closing scene the hero (Swayzetski) proudly declares that "I had the time of my life".
He didn't then throw the secret policeman in the air a la Patrick Swayze?
Grey area Wodin... in the character of the NKVD Commissar, Tolstoy follows that classic Russian tradition, inside every story is another story and inside that is another story and inside that... etc..
