Thank you, i was thinking along the lines that if it is already "zoned" as being for sports/recreational usage, then just might be worth investigating...(?)
Hi Thad - I played for 20 years and was Secretary of The Mount Cricket Club for 10 years, it closed down about 30 years ago when the owner tried to sell the ground as a sports ground without informing us - he failed as it wasn't classified as a sports ground but farmland - we then moved and used Gossops Green playing field behind the Youth Centre for a couple of years before folding - the old ground was by the Gate pub on the Rusper Road which is now a private home - in truth it wouldn't be suitable for the training ground not big enough and tended to hold water in the winter - There were no services at the ground except water - no drainage, electricity or gas - it was pretty basic stuff on match days
Crikey that takes me back, when I played for Ifield CC we had a 2nd XI fixture away to The Mount, it was high summer 1976 and the match was abandoned due to the dangerous condition of the drought baked unwatered wicket, it was so hard that rumour had it Gatwick were considering it for a second runway, it wasn't as hard as the landlord in The Gate though .......
That explains so much Alain, thank you, shocked it was never ever classified as a sports ground and i guess the rest is all a consequence of that omission.
I can remember so many Sports & Social clubs at one stage around Crawley.
Word on the street is that we had come to an arrangement to use Horsham's new ground (once it is finished) but that is now up in the air because of a potential takeover which our friend in HK may or may not know something about?

source or speculative hot air? Word on my street is we'll be using FIFA on Xboxs at players homes to train and solo trips to the local rec for a jog along with a dog to see if we can keep the k9 on a lead.
we need to get over this only 6 subs FFS we cant use them all so does it really matter?
Yes it does matter in as much as it makes the club look tinpot, no training ground and one of how many of the 92 clubs that cannot put 7 on the bench, hardly an advert for the club or a positive when it comes to negotiating with potential players
Blimey - So we actually have a youth setup & staff, i guess that we have been so discredited over recent years on that front - we have let a lot of people down - that we are reluctant to make a big splash about it...?

Isn't that question already answered, if you accept that the opening post of this thread is bona fide...?

Strange isn't it, a Head Coach, 3 UEFA B Licensed assistants, and no-one would have a clue looking at the club website that it even existed.
