Regarding David Sesay. I think that he is a better attacking than defending. He has shown great potential in the past and can be an exciting player to watch. I would like to see him get another year at Crawley.
The problem with Sesay is that he isn’t strong enough defensively or defensively minded enough to be a decent full back at League 2 level, but hasn’t quite got the quality in attack to play winger either so the management and him need to decide which position he is best in and focus on that.
I see Tom Pope has been released, he's old I know, but he could take the pressure and attention away from younger attacking players, giving them chance to develop and thrive without the pressure to always have to score... I think he could get 10 goals and I'd much rather have goals throughout the team rather than all in one 20 goal striker who will be sold.
Could work. But if we get a player like him, I fear we’ll end up playing long ball to him all the time like we did with Ollie Palmer and then have no plan b with and without a big centre forward on the pitch. Nichols, Nadders and Watters gave us great balance and options in attack in the first half of last season. Much rather we have 2 or 3 cheaper and younger half decent players than one expensive experienced player. We did the same with Collins and McLeod when they were here, seems the owners thought having one decent striker would sort us out- we did badly in both seasons!

Sesay is a decent player. I'd like to see him get a new deal and compete with Davies for the RB spot. Francomb should move back into midfield, as we are lightweight there and may well be losing Powell. We also need a midfield battler, an aggressive CM in the Hesketh role (or going back a bit Keith Keane). Hessenthaler is ok, Josh Wright not so much.
We will have Doherty back from his loan at Colchester, and hopefully Grego-Cox will be fit or the start of the season. We have really missed him. It goes without saying we really need to keep hold of Nichols and Tunnicliffe, but if we get a decent offer for them i guess they will be off. Signing a goalscorer is a priority - we didn't replace Max and Nadesan doesn't look up to the job. As frustrating as Jamie Proctor was.
I’d keep Nadders as he still contributes to the team with his constant running and unselfish play setting up others. Worth keeping as a fringe player at the very least. He needs to have someone to feed off though. A big and or experienced striker he can link with and take some of the burden off him to be the furthest man up the pitch all the time. Nichols is a great creative player, but is NOT a striker, he is an old fashioned number 10, one of a dying breed. His natural game is to go looking for the ball and pick it up all over the pitch, which leaves Nadders isolated. Both are decent players, but we need a better system and a more balanced team that suits them both.
We need an out and out number 9 ideally a big tall strong player that can bang the ball in the net and as Alex has said Nadders and Nichols can feed off this. That would be my priority though I would always say you start at the back and build from there i.e. draw each game 0-0 we wont go down even if the football might be a bit dull!

Well, Grimsby and Southend finished on 43 and 45 points this season so while 46 0-0 draws would have been enough, it would have been a bit tense towards the end of the season! :-) But I do agree we need a physical presence up front to take the flak off Nichols and Nadders. I'm sure Tubbsy appreciated having Craig McAllister along side him to do likewise. In January, Satanage picked up Luke Norris on a short term deal and he scored a few goals for them as they climbed the table. I know someone like that doesn't necessarily fit our business model and there may be good reasons why we couldn't / didn't sign him but I think it would have made a difference having an experienced lower league forward. He's always been a pain in the backside whenever he has played against us.

Frank Nouble has always been a pain for us but there are lots of defenders in league 2 who have a special pocket to keep him in. OK player at this level but not really what we need.
Luke Norris would be our starting no 9 for two or three years but could we afford him, does he fit into the philosophy of the club and would he come?
In previous years I have failed miserably to mention Izale McCleod, James Collins and Tom Nichols. Any guesses I make are therefore likely to be crap.

Isn’t Luke Norris the Brother in Law to Lewis Young?

Does that mean signing him is out of the question for you then John because of his connections to Lewis Young?

No, not at all.................... I believe that they both live in Stevenage and Young COULD be employed to drive him to training etc.

I think a loyal servant and experienced full back such as Young should be treated with more respect than to be a lackey for someone else! P.s he claps the fans 👏

Wonder when the club are going to announce the released/retained list? I hate waiting for it to come out. Other L2 clubs are releasing truckloads of players. Hopefully Yems doesn't bin off too many players.

I was thinking the same thing today. Hopefully all the clubs releasing theirs means we will find out later. I’m very interested to see it. A lot of clubs have released A LOT of players notably Scunthorpe and Colchester
