I thought Yates squad was as good. Players like Bradley, Edwards, Harrold, Yorwerth, Smith, Hancox and Woodman would definitely get in our squad now. But he did well to keep us mid table.
Dermot's team - least said the better. However it was always going to take time to bed in his model and I was sorry he was moved on. Of course his number 2 Matt Gray has also done well as a manager.
I'd argue that Dermot should definitely have been given more time, as if that was done he could have build an exciting project here, massive shame we never got to find out
The Duds that Dermot Drummy deemed to be good enough, would certainly relegated Crawley Town if Dermot was given more time !!
As nice a guy Dermot was, he didn’t have any knowledge with regards League 2 football.

I can't remember many managers in recent times that had experience of managing in L2 when they joined up.
Certainly not Drummy, Cioffi, Kewell, Gregory, Saunders. Only Yates I think.
Yep, I’ve said it many a time (usually after someone has slagged off him or the season he was manager) but Yates remains the only non-left field appointment out of the last 6 (permanent appointments - I’ve omitted Saunders as he was interim and knew League One).
And as Simon alludes to, Yates was severely limited in the amount of room for manoeuvre he had with regards the budget and bringing players in. I would advise anyone to read the relevant chapter in Micky Adams’ biography when he describes coming for an interview for the job in May 2015.

Probably no credit beating us nowadays we are beginning to look like everybody's nailed on three points if players aren't injured their getting sent off with Yems continuing to abuse match officials this may be a very hard season for us.

I agree, plus the way some players have been treated lately such as Tilley, Dallison and German have angered me quite a bit. I don't buy into all these injury excuses at all when we have 2 center backs out on loan, plus Dallison getting dropped for no reason at all (and maybe Ludwig). The manager's attitude has also really frustrated me as well (such as the needless aggressive response to the Josh Wright question the other day, albeit I wouldn't have asked about him myself) and when you think about it, would any other club in this division or even in the National League rather have John Yems over their incumbent boss?
I agree Alex, although I wonder if we know the full story. He was also brought on as substitute for the Leeds match. This must have unsettled the squad morale.
Sure, of course, we will never know the full story, but I can't imagine the players would have been anything more than indifferent towards Mark Wright. I would like to Yems is the one that makes all the decisions with regards to the football side of things and therefore it was his decision alone to bring in Mark Wright and start him in a league game (nothing to do with the directors), but to me it makes us look totally tinpot that we would pull such a shameless publicity stunt.
Mark Wright has had an operation to remove a growth under his right armpit.

I wish Mark all the best for the future, sorry it didn't work out at Crawley Town FC
