More bad publicity for the club. It was on the national ITV news yesterday evening. Ian Wright tweeted about it yesterday saying the sentence is a disgrace. I think this is going to go from bad to worse.
I suspect this will run and run, but JY effectively has a lifetime ban from football anyway because I can't see a football club offering him any type of contract in the future. After this he would probably have trouble getting a job stacking shelves in Tesco, even if it was on the basis that an employer would be concerned about disruption. I see he's 62 so if he needs to continue earning, he might think about some form of self employment.
There is a lot of people coming forward to support Yems and offer mitigation for what he did.
Is a single person on this forum willing to offer any support for the five CRAWLEY players after what they went through? And what they were forced to re-live through the drawn-out process of the FA hearings?
Do their lives matter? Do their feelings of being humiliated with racial comments by their boss matter to anyone?
It's really about time we drew a line under this and all accept the players shouldn't have gone through what they were forced to go through. And that they had a perfect right to stand up for themselves by going to their players' union.
...and maybe this is a reason that the pfa representative is no longer at the club....and maybe why three senior players appear to have been frozen out and another summarily sold?
From my reading of that judgement the whole playing staff were involved in the 'banter' (Lynch asking Yems to take the mick out of black women to Marshall). Others laughing at the jokes and the Chaplin now praying for forgiveness because he didn't try to stop it.
I've spoke to Yems a few times (not since this come to light) All it would have taken is one senior person/player at the club to speak up an it would have stopped. Everyone involved needs to have a long hard look at themselves...and maybe those clamouring for the three left off the bus to be re-instated need to consider what they're asking after Eben's tweet on the subject.
The players were bullied and didn't feel able to fight back. I've said before some of the charges are ridiculous but taken as a whole it should have been stopped and the players themselves should not have had to put up with it.

if bullying existed then i think you explain why others didnt speak up (if they knew ongoings)
Ultimately this doesnt appear to be going away any day soon. Its bad publicity and with that its bound to have a bad effect.
Firstly, how awful must players on the receiving end be feeling. I wonder if they have been offered any help, conselling, they might pursue legal claim for lost/damaged careers and associated earnings. Dont be surprised if a joint claim is forthcoming
Secondly, the ongoing reputation of the club must be at an all time low. Everything thats been going on lately with players, managerial circus and so on - its going to affect:
- sponsorship - attracting players - agent relationships - relationships with clubs for loans etc - supporters especialling 'floating' fans and any that feel marginalised - staff and how well, motivated they do their jobs; add to that anyone wanna job in Redz, on the gate? People will think twice - I can see Brighton (strong anti this that and everything) pulling out of their women playing at Broadfield.
Im sure there will be plenty more knock-on effects.
Prime focus has to be L2 survival and lets be honest who would wanna come here and help this club out? We are in deep ****
Thad, some of those charges Yems has been found guilty off are ridiculous (deliberately mispronounced Annie's name,a teatotal berating a Muslim for not drinking) but when a boss starts banter, any banter, he has to know that his employees may not feel able to respond in kind. It becomes a bullying problem. That's why Yems deserved to be sacked and that's why the only other club employee (in a senior position) who claimed to know about it deserves to be sacked too.
I also think the person who decided to make Yems get a train home on his own deserves the sack.

I cannot speak for him on what was or was not said, the facts in the report found that on "the balance of probability" he breached their rules on 12 occasions involving 5 players over 2.5 years... The Players statements were only given to the PFA in early April 2022.
...my point Jim, is that the CEO & Players Rep & Senior Players were totally unaware of any complaints throughout. The charge he admitted was the one that was raised with him and he apologized then followed up on the players welfare.
This all happened during lockdown when the team over-performed & team moral was very high. It should have been raised at the outset, he would have got a rap across the knuckles and warned about his future conduct and there would have been a greater scrutiny implemented.
There are enough people still around who know that when I was an adversary of Johns, I could say ANYTHING to his face. He looks grumpy, but he is actually very approachable.
Yems live today 10.45am on TALKSPORT 723 digital radio
I missed it. Anybody listen?
He really didn’t do himself any favours at all. Came across as a man in a timewarp, didn’t apologise for anything and then claimed he is the one who is owed an apology. They pretty much ripped what he said apart after he put the phone down on Jim White.

Unbelievable the idiot thinks HE deserves an apology. I'm speechless. What about all the people affect by what he did and said? He is extremely lucky that he doesn't ply his trade in other work as he would've had much harsher treatment. Also very disrespectful to the due process the FA followed. Well the FA want harsher punishment and after all the rubbish he has spouted what do you think will happen Johnny boy?
Yems' brand of humour is one I understand, but he failed to appreciate that the world has moved on. Although no-one can speak for him, it's quite possible his remarks were an attempt to laugh at himself. He's not the first to fall foul of misplaced attempts at humour and he won't be the last. If I were to call Yems some racial insult alluding to his whiteness he would laugh at me, but the difference is that there isn't a longstanding history of white English being enslaved etc.
His raucous brand of humour could be quite funny, but once race or religion comes into it you're on quicksand. As an aside, I don't believe Allah exists either, but I could say the same about Thor, Jehovah, Aphrodite, or Beelzebub

Those things are possible but how much did upper management know about the goings-on if people felt too intimidated to complain?

Good points Paul. I was reminded of the many post match interviews when Johns approach was more confrontational than was needed - a real shame for everybody involved and I do understand both sides of the argument and think that nobody has come of it well including the new owners.
