ok accept that I missed the humour and glad you are as up for it as the rest of us. Your previous update was nicely balanced and yes please to the photo you offered. Looking forward to seeing you with your popcorn and chilli dog
I am honestly amazed that you found anything at all in the post that you responded to, controversial in the slightest. Compare & contrast with a few genuinely critical posts in the thread, that had preceded it and that you ignored.
Which leads me to believe that you have joined the long line of virtual characters, over the last two decades, who focus - sometimes obsessively - on ME rather than what I actually post.
Hey-ho, I have never understood it, but I am still here…. and they have all… erm…. f*rkedoff…!
Edit: I will post up a photo of the article later, but it is a strange shape & I may have to break it down into a few parts for legibility.
Also, my legal adviser informs me that I have a strong case for entrapment against Preston. That photo of you Dude... it is a slam dunk, empty net, shoo in Bro... ...how can I possibly not quote "The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead"...(?)
Being in the area for the weekend, I had a very nice pub lunch yesterday with Thad and his charming companion and I can assure you he is in fine spirit. Given our respective ages we easily have into 3 figures in terms of years supporting CTFC and we both want the club to do well. It is our team….
Blimey, I thought that strange looking bloke in the pub seemed familiar…
Yes, it can never stop being our club. I will never want it to be harmed, even if only for the sake of the town & people that I will always be connected to (despite having faced more than my share of abuse from them over the years).
I subscribe to the view that “there is no glory without honour” and that our owners have not always behaved honourably.
I am also dubious about Crypto, less about the concept & product, but the way the FOMO culture is exploited by Hypers & Vipers is dangerous and needs more legal oversight. Which means that I need the owners to win my trust back and that will impact my overall outlook. Hardly a revelation to anyone who reads this forum.
However - I have no issues with NFT’s (as some fella in The Cricketers at Duncton can verify) and believe it is the silver bullet. My view is that it is not significantly different to Star Wars memorabilia and that no-one is forced to buy it or likely to lose their life savings on it.
It would also be hypocrisy on my part. As a former CTFC fanzine editor, cartoonist & T-shirt designer, aren’t they just producing a modern day equivalent of those very products (I informed my legal advisor about my early-noughties cartoon chimp character, based on Robbie “car crash” Kember and she is hopeful that Preston & Eben will settle out of court).
Yet there is an emotional price for that success... NFT collectors want something unique, but currently we are part of circa 3k active CTFC fans and maybe another 5k of dormant ones… that is a pretty exclusive & proud band of brothers.... Suddenly we have the prospect of maybe 1m virtual global fans “joining in”.
That is the quintessential dichotomy George referenced, IDENTITY MATTERS… it is what makes OUR club... OUR CLUB...
…as I posted previously - although an ignorant attention-seeker viewed it as entering a hole of gloom - the owners are aware and understand the need to balance both parties.
However - it is also why I will never stop asking them: “Dude, where’s my club”...?
What we really want to know Thad is whether you prefer a pump or a dump?
I went out on my bicycle yesterday. Simon..
...and soon discovered that I urgently needed both
Maybe it was that ham egg and chips making its presence felt? :-) And if out on a long ride, it’s always advisable to bung in a pack of Kleenex along with the pump, tyre levers and John Bull puncture repair kit!
"Let's begin... Peter Pumpkinhead came to Town Spreading wisdom & cash around..."
Edit: Rest to follow later today (images have to be resized for forum file space) But I am needed elsewhere... and (before you ask) not for a pump or dump.

Ironically I was on my cycle too and whilst I needed neither a pump or dump, I did discover a few BUMPS when unable to cycle off road. Thankfully I kept on the saddle but I don't fully appreciate the state of the road in a car as much as I do on 2 wheels!

Given our respective ages we easily have into 3 figures in terms of years supporting CTFC and we both want the club to do well. It is our team. I have renewed my season ticket after much deliberation and really hope that Kevin and the boys have a fantastic season. That doesn’t mean I am not going to be critical of the whole affair surrounding John Yems, the way it was handled and the fall out from that for him and his family. Some people may not know or care but as far as we are concerned, even if we do have a successful season, there will be something imperceptible lingering which, as my learned friend put it, will mean it is without honour.

:-)
Are we supposed to ask what the tyre levers are for?
