Has Preston picked the members of the Fan Council in the hope they will rubber stamp his wishes because if anyone disagrees he can remove them. Does not fill me with confidence that they will stand up to him.
I can only speak for me personally. Before I joined the fan council, I hadn't ever spoken to Preston. He just wanted someone from the CTSA to be on it and so I was chosen from the board. Preston can remove anyone of us if he so choses. I don't think he would though. However, this is why the CTSA is important as he has no control over us.
As if he has control over any of the others either. People are entitled to not be great fans of the owners but i really wish they'd stop randomly disrespecting long-standing fans of the club
I think Reuben answers this point well. It’s not really about representing the whole fanbase, we the fans didn’t vote for them so that’s obviously impossible. What it is about is giving the owners a sounding board of some very credible and upright citizens amongst our support who will help to better guide their decision making.
Now the relevant comparison that needs to be made here is with the Ziya ownership. Is this a step forward from that? I think unquestionably it is. What groups did Ziya or Erdem engage with? No doubt some - but this is way more transparent, we have eight actual names here and an actual transparent body that we knows exists and that any of us can engage with. How could this ever be a bad thing? I think it’s the owners recognising they need to work a little bit harder to know what we think. The Americans are one step ahead of the Turks on this - and I’m someone who was generally very thankful for Mr Eren’s stewardship.
Is the CTSA being sidelined? I don’t think there is any suggestion of that, the CTSA are part of the fan council and still remain the only democratic grassroots representative group that ordinary fans can join. And I must get round to sending in my sub as they do excellent work!
I’m struggling to see a problem here, this is way more fan engagement and involvement than we’ve been used to under meritworthy but still quite hierarchical previous ownership regimes
I seem to remember Joe Comper wanting to create a group to help with marketing. He wanted someone from each stand to meet once a month to talk about the match day experience etc etc. I don't remember any backlash from that. Interesting how this fan council is different
It's just grinding axes really, these moves are clearly a step forward from the virtually nothing of the Ziya Eren days and I've not heard anyone make a solid argument why they aren't

I think he's picked his drinking mates !
To answer you, John the Gas and JB I am on the council and have never had a drink with Preston yet but quite happy to if it can help communication between the owners and fans (including anonymous posters on here?)
And to clarify I gave up on this forum a few years ago as it seemed more interested in personal vendettas than anything to do with supporting Crawley. But was prompted to have a look at this thread to see how things havent changed. And they dont seem to have!! Firstly my name is Mick Fox some may know me, I sit in East Stand seat M130 and have a season ticket which I paid for and am not in the CTSA, I drink in Redz bar pre match and was at Carlisle on Saturday talking to fans of the club (and one of our owners who I hadnt met before). I have been supporting the Red Devils for over 60 years and am no better or worse that any other fan for that, have my views but always willing to argue them with anybody so feel free. To slightly differ from Reuben and his appointment I heard Preston in one of his early statements saying they were hoping to set up a fan council to try and improve communication between fans and owners and if anybody wanted to be on it to let him know. I thought it a good idea and sent him a tweet saying I wouldnt mind having a go maybe as an older voice. He does reply if you tweet him, and eventually it came together. I think he wanted a diverse group in age, gender, skills and whatever but as far as I am concerned the make up isnt set in stone as its very early days, so if some of those coming up with comparisons to Russia and us being his drinking buddies want to come out into the open and put themselves forward to do something constructive then why not message him or approach him at a game? Your chance to disagree in person?
As for us being picked as a group who will not disagree with him (me disagree with anybody?!!! ), well it has happened already and will carry on being so, certainly at least until they have a better understanding of the wants and views of the wider fan base. Anyway the council is more about communicating both ways and answering questions and fans concerns than being any decision making body (presumably the CTSA representation on the board has input into those decisions?). As Steve has said we have gone from position zero in having a fans voice to this in just a month or so by all means reserve judgement but at least give them more than 2 months to see if things improve for us as fans?

As fans, we have seen the new owners use some non-traditional ways to make money for the club. However, what about the traditional ways? Crowds? Merchandise? Food? How important are these to the owners?
How important are the traditional ways of improving the clubs finances eg crowds, merch, food etc As a club, we were losing £1 million a year. It is a big hole to climb out of especially with added staff, players and a new B team. Both traditional and non-traditional are important. We are already changing and improving those traditional finance methods. Do stay tuned.

thanks for your post Mick and I hope you wont be put of posting and being part of this forum - you would be very welcome.

Unfortunately this is the crux of it. Despite the efforts of the Mods many regulars moved on due the nonsense posted by certain posters. It used to be a good source of info but eventually the dross posted by the likes of RRR and others outweighed the sensible content.
Anyway it's an interesting debate, personally I don't see Preston has to justify himself but there will always be those who complain about anything the club does.

new people have joined too and we welcome a range of views. You can always 'ignore' any posts you choose to. It would be a dull world if we all agreed.

What you mean is that you don't like people having an opinion that is different from yours.

I personally feel this forum does a better job of limiting the really silly personal stuff than previous versions so you deserve appreciation for your efforts on that George

Did someone mention a dead pigeon in the North Stand?! Well that has now been dealt with - Yay! 🎉🎉 What about the rest of the stadium? Any plans to remove that? Is it a priority?
The improvement of the stadium is not currently a priority. It would be a multi-year process starting with the East Stand. If you find anything broken eg hand dryers then do let us know and we can get that sorted. The club have got/ will have someone in to try and clear all the dead pigeons and mess!!

There is a difference between an opinion and a semi illiterate rant.
...on a somewhat serious note..the point about training for when you play is a good one.
Now I don't know when the training starts but if the matches kick off at 3pm that's the time you should train to be ready for. Am I the first to think this? No, Maradona's Napoli team used to train in the afternoon.
