A good result no doubt and a step in the right direction, but we made the game a lot harder than it needed to be in the final 20-25 with all the subs disrupting the flow of the game and sitting so deep we were under a lot of pressure, but we did just about enough to win.
Going forward we look better now and have started to play a more direct approach getting the ball forward earlier. For me the weak links though are Hess and Powell in the middle, the rest of the team look half decent. Get a couple of decent central midfielders in and this team can climb the league.
We’re a long way from where we wanted and maybe expected to be at the start of the season, but with a 30+ games to go and a transfer window, if we get the right manager in we should have more than enough to stay up. This next managerial appointment is crucial to our season and to WAGMI’s ownership as well I feel.
Lewis put more effort in to that than Betsy has done for the past few weeks. Not quite sure where Francombe went leaving no right back and a gapping hole, lucky to escape from that. More like the old team, mistakes all round, a keeper making some point blank saves and Nads doing the Buisness. It will be the first time for a number of weeks I feel able to watch the highlights, let's hope I can continue until at least Christmas. Greet result even if Newport were woefull with their shooting.
So much better now without Betsy the players must be so relieved they can play with freedom again. Hearing Preston pre game and you get an insight into how negative the club had become. Well done Lewis you passed your first test with flying colours. First big decision, drop Addai, 100% correct decision. Has cost us many goals and we need a solid base. Robson can keep the gloves warm till Morris returns in Jan. Bring back Kwesi then too please. Was some very foolish people on here saying Betsy should have been given longer!!!!
I was quite concerned after the first 20 minutes as County got to the goal-line a couple of times and flashed a couple of low crosses across goal and heads up for our keeper who actually saved a free kick - with some help from the post. We gradually played our way in though and managed to score shortly before half time due to their keeper wrongly fancying himself as Ussain Bolt. It was a pretty even first half - perhaps County edged it even when taken overall, but the stat that matters is ball in onion bag.
Second half we came out going for the jugular and deserved the second goal. Shortly after there was a break in play and a couple of substitutions. After that we dropped back, or were pushed back, and got away with County coming at us. Really, I would have liked to carry on as we were for another ten minutes because we had them on the run, and the tactical changes might have cost us the three points. County scored a quality goal and really should have at least scored another. There was a crazy scramble near the end and I don't know how our goal survived. We won, but I felt we might have made it a little easier on ourselves.
Three desperately needed points against a fellow struggler is always valuable as it also means they got zero points. It wasn't always pretty but at least the team looked up for the fight. More of that and I expect us to start breathing a little easier in January.
Pleased for Young he git a result. His first as interim manager. He didn't fair so well last season.
It would be a huge mistake to put Lewis in charge. We need to learn lessons and get some one with experience a d a track record. We can't afford any more experiments or poor choices in our position.
He has a 100% record FFS get behind him and we wont need another manager he will be the real deal.

I agree except I thought Addai was doing ok, that said his replacement had a very good game.
As soon as that dud leaves town we have some life back in the team, well done Lewis Young, he needs to be given some time he ha done his coaching badges and already worked under Yems so lets give him a chance. Today we had a few shaky moments but you get them in all games, they key difference is we played on the front foot moved the ball forwards more than sideways and had a genuine purpose about us. Newtport were dirty pathetic cheats and I am amazed no County player was red carded. What was Robson dong with their free-kick? We got off there as we did when they stuck one over the bar from very close range. Annoying Rochdale picked up points but we can only look after ourselves and we have done what Betsy could only do once in a dozen attempts. Pathetic manager we are well rid off, trouble is he has left a mountain for Lewis to climb. Im angry it took so long to remove that clown. hope you were there Preston to see the difference today.
Fellows and Tilley were super today, also the reaction towards Lewis from the players and the fans was lovely to see. He's clearly a very popular member of the group

Nick, are you for real? He has a W1 D1 L3 Record as our Manager! Today we were lucky! They had more shots on target than us, they had more shots off target than us, they had more possession than us. Does anyone on this forum go on Performance Rather than Results?
Do you want to go from 1 disaster to another? WAKE UP! Only People AWAKE are Craig, Powell, Hess Constantly feeding the club with B@@@shit.
Having said that nice to be off the Bottom! But not for long if he stays as Manager!

One of the fools here but still believe we acted too quicky BUT a much much much better performance today, I think the gods were with us what with a fluky opener, them hitting the post and also playing a poor team. Be a much better test next week against Mansfield although hands up Betsy failed against some very poor teams.
Well done Lewis, all credit to you for getting the team together and winning the game well but unless everybody is part of the Tory party on here lets not rush into decisions too quickly and give the job to Lewis only to change our mind by Christmas!

Steve, Your Right. Fair Play! Craig's Stats have gone down 0.01 after today. He is now 2.06 goals conceded every time he has started a game for CTFC! Hmmmm what do you think to that Steve?- I like to be honest!
Lewis Young deserves huge credit for this win and I’m delighted for him, the players and Wagmi after a difficult period.
Lewis made a couple of tweaks today which for me worked really well.
Most fundamentally he reorganised at the back and went to a 442 which I think is sensible, it’s a system footballers most understand and I think in a week of upheaval it’s the percentage way to go. A problem over the past few weeks has been a slightly creaky partnership with Craig and Tsaroulla down the left which probs asked too much of our veteran defender. But the Tsaroulla-Fellows link up worked much more fluently with the ball.
Secondly it was right to reward David Robson with a start in goal after his excellent display against Portsmouth. For me that superb save in injury time made him my MOTM, well as both the natural wingers Tilley and Fellows played. I don’t see this as any knock to Corey Addai who has performed manfully this season. After fruitless years spent trying to bring keepers in to give competition to Morris I really think we’ve come up trumps this season with the talent we’ve brought in. I’d rather tie down David and Corey to long term deals rather than see them drift off to other clubs but that’ll be one for the new manager to decide if he wants to risk that by getting more years out of Glenn.
I don’t think the subs messed up things too much today, alas Newport’s goal out of the blue just changed the game as goals always do.
The conundrum of how we fit a talented player like Telford into the team when Nichols effectively plays in his role wasn’t solved today. I personally think it requires a proper target man which would create space for them both and we don’t have that. Was an urgent purchase for the window just gone that didn’t happen and I think it needs to be a priority for January

I think will you ever know what the Crawley ticket office looks like in your life?
