Joel Lynch is 2 Levels above Nicholls, and Balagizi, Tsaroulla & Balcombe are All 1 Level above Nicholls so no Biggy as far as I am concerned if he goes.
But none of those players are strikers like Nicholls, so I don't understand the comparison - or your point.
No I won’t. You can choose to believe me or not, that’s your gift. All I can do is relay what I was told and assure you it was very very credible. The stats man influences or has influenced, team selection.
If you choose to disbelieve that’s fine but I won’t tell you who it was that told me and I certainly won’t be “doing one” based on your request.

a load of bullsh1t then
I’m not really bothered if you want to call it out as bullsh!t or not tbh.
The fact is I was told by a very reliable source that Young was told to leave out Craig and Nichols prior to Gillingham away and he ignored the instruction.
By Sunday Young is out of a job and the very next game Craig is on the bench and Nichols is completely out the squad with the manager claiming it was “out of his hands”.
I’m not sure which part of that doesn’t stack up?

It was mentioned on another thread that Nichols contract runs out in the summer but there is an option for a further year.
The only thing we, as fans, know is that Nichols was not in the squad yesterday and that was not the manager's decision. We know Matt Etherington said Nichols was not injured and he also stated he has been brilliant for him.
That leads us to one of three conclusions.
1, It has been arranged for Nichols to be sold and its such a good deal that the club feel they cannot risk him getting injured and scuppering the deal.
2, Nichols has had a row with the people above Etherington at the club and has said something that "they" will demand an apology for or go through club disciplinary before he is allowed to play.
3, Something from outside the club has come to light that means the club management feel they have no choice other than not play him.
There is another scenario where the club has very badly communicated to the press and us regarding a personal issue that meant Nichols could not play...I just feel that this would have already have been corrected so didn't include it.
Jim Baker
Another scenario is that he has put in a transfer request and a decision was taken he was not in the right focused state to take part in the game. Frankly who knows at this stage, the possibilities are endless.
Worth remembering that one of the final decisions taken by Lewis Young was to sub Nichols off in the 60th minute, it’s very unusual for this stalwart performer to be replaced so early in a game. Everyone could see he wasn’t “at it”, nor was he the previous game either.
If he had been available, who would have been left out - Telford? Balagizi? Nadesan?
Matty would have wanted the choice but in this case it saved him a difficult one.
Let’s hope things can be smoothed over and we have Nichols back for the season and the extra option season but if not then the team is always bigger than one player and dare I say it the 14 players proved that on Saturday

Did they tell Lewis Young to haul Nichols off early against Gillingham as well? It’s all a bit woo woo conspiracy theory?
Remember all the reliable sources who told us Tsaroulla was being forced out of the club?

I’m not sure how you think that should fit in with the theory, but if I’d been told not to play someone and then I was 0-0 and he was t playing well, I’d know for sure the only thing saving my arse was if we nicked a goal and won the game…..
It’ll be disappointing for sure if Nichols goes as he’s been one of our best players over the last few seasons, but it will also give more of an opt for the likes of Telford and Nadders to shine as well, plus Balagizi is fit and he can play the same position as Nichols. If he wants to go and the club get a good offer before his contract runs out it may be best to let him go so we can at least get a fee. Plus we have January to get reinforcements.

So you think Nicholls is a Striker? 1 goal every 4.5 career games is hardly Class is it, and when you couple that fact that he is very similar to Dom Telford, and couple the fact that he aint the best without the ball then it will be a No Brainer for Etherington. I am sure this New Manager will make the right call!

Isn't this just someone trying to have a pop at Chris Galley but just doesn't have the honesty to name him, never mind the honesty to put their own name to the criticism? When Steve Coppell was here as director of football watching all those games, he wasn't doing it just for a day out in lovely north Sussex, he was passing on advice to the manager of the time Richie Barker. That's also the job of the current bloke surely. Am sure that can be entertainingly hyped up by anonymous whisperers as ultimatums and demands, but heigh ho a few people love grinding the old axes don't they?
Steve, you were right regarding my post because I didn't make it clear that it was all speculation.
Rumours are rumours some are true some are not. If someone I knew was close to the club told me something that if it came out could get him the sack you wouldn't hear it from me. However, if someone close to the club said its all around the club this is happening I would probably post it here without naming names. We just have to look at the people posting it and make a judgement call. We will also have to accept that just because the person posting has a good reputation the rumour may still be wrong.
“Last week, we received an offer and some strong interest for Tom Nichols and we, as an organisation that believes in a collaborative approach, felt that this was an unnecessary distraction for Matthew’s first game in charge."
So we receive an offer for Nichols, and our DoF decides that's enough to tell our new manager, taking charge of his first game, not to pick him. Why the hell not? According to ME Nichols had been training well all week, so clearly his head hadn't been turned and he was in the right frame of mind to play. ME wanted to pick him but was told not to. Why does Galley think it's ok for him to interfere in first team affairs like this? Is ME going to have to check with him about every team selection? Perhaps Lewis didn't like being told who he could and couldn't pick, which is why he was removed so suddenly?
