Is he picking the team these days or is Galley doing it?
I thought the same Simon, considering he is new to the job, you'd expect some enthusiasm and desire.
He did sound fed up, the players will see that and it will rub off on them, as it already has.
Several stats that are not on Wagmi's spreadsheet are desire, passion and heart.
Lewis Young had all of them, bring him back now !
TOWN. TEAM. TOGETHER ?
How many managers do we want in a season? Perhaps we should offer monthly contracts to appease those who cant allow a manager to develop over time aka Betsy and now Etherington
Just watched the Etherington after match interview and he talks about the players not having the confidence to go out and give their all. Well if he speaks to the players before the game and at training like he come across from his interview then its no wonder they are not up for it. His interview came across giving all the wrong signs because he came across as lacking in confidence and embarrassment about how his team performed today. All he is doing is getting us into a relegation situation and not having the nous to get us out of it.
I thought he handled it honestly. Lets give this guy a chance rather than try to be like Watford and get a new gaffer to match the weather
Playing Telford up front on his own is a waste of time. Not blaming the player. He is told what to do. Etherington recognised the problem by playing a centre half/full back on the left wing to add some strength and height to the attack...one stat that does need addressing here is that Balcombe kicked the ball into touch more than we had shots on goal.
Our midfield improved dramatically when Francomb was moved there. I will also say Mason did OK playing as a right back being so left footed. White looks a decent back up option and will improve.
In the summer every fan knew that we needed a back to goal centre forward. Someone we could play the ball up to and who would allow us to get up the field. In my opinion, if the ball is played into Telford's feet in the box or if he played played off the knock downs he will score goals but to be the focal point is not his game.
I thought the signing of Johnson would allow us to move Francomb permanently into centre midfield to plug the holes there but Francomb has been injured nearly all season (along with others) and Johnson looks scared of advancing up the line.
If those two things had happened I believe we would have had a tilt at the play offs. As they haven't we have gone backwards and are now in a relegation battle where we seem to have shot ourselves in the foot by binning our two top strikers!
Etherington has a big problem and he will get the blame if it doesn't work out. Grab the bull by the horns and go for it Matt.
There is argument to say Etherington has 'nothing' to lose...by that I mean we are losing, keep losing and are in a downwood spiral to non-league. However much I look at my half-full/empty glass its not getting refilled and my thirst is lowering its content. We cannot afford experiments, gambling, we need basics and we need them done well. Not enough (any?) 90 minute grafters like Bullman, solid centre-halves fit like Lynch and overall the combination is like mixing liquorice and cheese. Its a horrible taste that is hard to stomach. I walk into a chineese takeaway I expect to see sweet and sour on the menu. I walk into the Broadfield stadium and I expect to see some cheese on my toast else its just toast and no cheese. I cannot toast a lone striker so small because he hasnt the accompliment of cheese. I expect a keeper that can kick the ball with better distribution, its a given like my chineese stays hot enough to take away 2 mins home. I shouldnt have to ask. Its a given. The recipe at the club is all wrong. No one wants liquorice and cheese.

Jim Baker
Agreed Jim, I thought Mason, who for someone who has only played (two?) league games for us did pretty well when he came on. I thought Mazeed being out of position also tried his best. Oteh has impressed me of late and his talent that John identified seems to now have come out full force. I just hope Matt (or is it Wagmi and the DOF) decide to start him especially given Nadesan is out for a while. We are in serious proverbial and I just hope Matt has a plan for targets in January that he can actually sign because he wants to and thinks they can genuinely make an impact at the club rather than because their “underlying metrics” are good like Johnson’s.

But it's not the fans changing manager every 5 minutes (we have no say in anything) it's Wagmi. And they've appointed a clueless yes-man as both DoF and acting CEO. We're only heading one way under Galley - down. I hope you had an enjoyable Boxing Day mate, you definitely made the right decision.

Did you expect him to have a big smile on his face? Of course he looked fed up after a poor defeat. He’s got players making basic mistakes conceding goals so he already has worries that he might not be able to rely on them. The players he’d like to pick like Lynch are on treatment tables.
Name one part of what he said that gives any support to the conspiracy theory you’re pushing. Players get moved in and out all the time for a huge variety of reasons. It’s easy to make things up on the internet but it doesn’t really get us anywhere.
The key thing he said echoing Francomb was that he expected more signings in January. I took that as a positive. But who wants positives eh?
Even George F seemed depressed and fed-up in the interview.
Did you expect him to wear a Santa hat and sing happy Christmas?
How do people expect players to act after a bad defeat?
If he was smiling he’d be slaughtered and if he said everything was going great he’d be called deluded. What do people want from our players? He accepted it wasn’t good enough and things needed to change - and he suggested how they should change

So you want Wagmi out, right? That’s the plan? Tell us how you are going to make that happen. Losing your rag on messageboards ain’t a plan by the way before you suggest or demonstrate that

in support of message boards I would say that message boards, good ole newspapers, social media and so on does have an impact and any club that ignores it does so at its peril.

Oh dear, you haven't changed at all. So many presumptions and over reactions as usual.
No, I don't want Wagmi out. I would like them to learn from their mistakes, not keep repeating them. I would like them to employ someone who knows how to compete in L2, both at managerial level (they've already mucked that one up) and also at boardroom level. A DoF who knows what he's doing and can help our American owners run the club in a way that will allow us to grow and improve on the pitch as well as off it.
Currently we have a DoF who many suspect is picking the team instead of ME. A DoF who has frozen out Nichols from the squad even though he's fit, wants to play, ME wants to pick him, and two of our strikers are out injured.
I fear Galley will take charge of transfer activity this January rather than the manager. I hope I'm wrong but I suspect not. Not that ME will ever be allowed to say anything about it.
And when did me (or anyone) sharing their opinion on here suddenly become "losing their rag"? Something you're clearly an expert at as you do it so often. You get triggered far too easily Steve, and usually for no reason. Any slight criticism of the club and you go off on one. You probably look in the mirror and start an argument with your reflection.

If the above I've highlighted in bold happens then this could just compound the problems we already have. Maybe I'm the fussy one that wants decaf tea (seriously why cant we have some at the club?) and drinks it without milk and sugar, when there are plenty of folk that drink what's served up but its all about getting the right cocktail mix. How many times have companies tried to replicate Coca-cola or Lego bricks? I'm told (not that I drink it) Pepsi isn't too bad a substitute for Coca-cola, but even those that drink the original clearly have varied taste with the diet, sugar free, fizzy free, bubble free and every other version going. We haven't got the right combination of cocktail at the club. Unless you believe Telford is a one hit wonder, he needs to play off a target man not be that target man and so on. I do not for one minute believe Telford (as an example) is a bad player but needs the aforementioned. Its not rocket science. What I overheard were comments yesterday aimed at ME along the lines of why are we playing one upfront 2-0 down at home. Yes, you can only pick players available to you (whether dictated to you by DOF, injuries suspensions etc) BUT you ME decide the formation, approach, style of play and so on. How about you take some responsibility for that?
