and if we win Saturday and the GD and goals sco0red are same (my head hurts is that possible?) and we win a game each then what toss a coin?
I think it's a mathematical impossibility anyway.
Consider: We lost 2-0 to Hartlepool at our place so to balance the head-to head element on goal difference and goals scored, we would have to win 2-0. Any other result would make someone the winner on head to head by goal difference or goals scored on head to head if all else was equal.
So we win 2-0.
That gives:
Crawley Played 44 Points 45 For 47 Against 69 GD -22
Hartlepool Played 44 Points 39 For 48 Against 76 GD -28
For Hartlepool to make up those 6 points they would need to win 2 and we would have to lose 2. That means that even if points and GD were level, either goals scored or head to head can't be level. Hartlepool would be the more like beneficiary if it came down to that.
It wouldn't surprise me if I worked that out wrong but it looks right first thing in the morning? Caffeine may change that.
I can see that you paid attention in Mr Marsden’s maths lessons 👍

I csee you guys are having fun but lets just win and we will all be a lot happier!
Will WAGMI and Galley realise that what they have done to the club with their lack of understanding of English football and ride of into the sunset one can only hope.
Although a six-goal difference in goal difference sounds a lot, nothing freakish is required to turn it around for Hartlepool when considering one side having a deteriorating goal difference and another improving theirs. Results such as those above would save Hartlepool on goals scored. You can be sure Hartlepool will throw the kitchen sink at it in their next game in the hope we slip up. If the first pair of results, or similar, happens, last-day nerves can play tricks on players' minds. It's unthinkable but we must be vigilant against Walsall and forget about partying until, hopefully, after the game.
Yes, I know Harrogate aren't technically safe yet, but the gap in goal difference is far greater so would require three freakish defeats for them.

Yes we should try and win the Walsall game, working on the assumption Hartlepool will beat Barrow (who can't make playoffs now). Although draw will do, we want to aim for win in our last home game, and then hopefully this thread can be closed for this season.

Think its done and dusted now but just a point to make sure

I agree - it's hard to see us losing both and Hartlepool winning both (bearing in mind the play Barrow and Stockport).
Then again football always has surprises, remember Bristol Rovers on the last day of last season.
Personally I think it will be all over next Saturday - either we will get something against Walsall or they will screw up against Barrow.
Harrogate win tonight and are safe. AFC Wimbledon are only one place above us now, so let's try and finish above them!
Wouldn't that be great! We ay have a reaction to the great performance on Saturday and come out of the blocks a bit full of ourselves and maybe suffer as a result but I am not expecting much from Wallsall either so we could sneak at least a point and maybe more.
I imagine SL will be drilling it into the players that we aren't quite safe yet, and we need to try and win. Playing for a draw never works. Confidence and belief will be high, plus we are at home, so a win is definitely possible. I will happily take a point though. Just want us to be safe so we can all enjoy the trip to Swinedon.

I need a rest. I hope we get a point so that I don't feel I have to go to Swindon.
