FT: Town of outstanding quality football 1 Town of cheats 3 Ref must be on Sunday League after that embarrassment. Williams cost us 3 points with a daft card getting himself sent off and once again are entire defence were unable to handle an average L2 team. We struggle to defend against pace attacking and game was all but over when the cheats scored their third. Looks like the ref needed close protection at the final whistle, wonder why? MOM Kelly.
Lost to the better team in the end. As George says we don't appear to be able to deal with pacey attacks and crosses into box. Unfortunately Scott seems to prefer defenders that can pass and play out of the box rather than defend.
Assume William's second yellow was for dissent as within seconds of first. Only surprise to me is it has taken him 21 games to get sent off, as he struggles to manage his temper. Might be his 10th yellow, so don't know if he will get 1 or two match suspension.

That sums it u well, defence all over the place, cant handle team coming at us with pace and fail to stop the crosses yet when we have the ball at fk and corners p155 about with the ball and one occasion travels about 60 feet backwards - do we actually do any training for set pieces? Yes ref dreadful but we lost not just because of him but because we cannot defend!

It was obvious we would struggle when we went down to 10 men, it seems like SL didn't know quite what to do. Why didn't we play 3-3-3 and have a real go at these cheating Northerners? We lost due to 3 things today (I will 'overlook' the obvious they scored more goals than us!): 1. Defending was a shambles on many occasions. 2. The Ref was incompetent 3. SL & his coaching staff failed to react to (a) Mansfield pace coming forward and (b) playing 10 v 11
Does anyone know what happened in the south stand? Medical emergency team were summoned quickly and I saw someone being stretchered away, sitting upright, so hopefully was ok.

"Luton Town said in a post on X, formerly Twitter: "Our medical staff have confirmed that the Hatters captain suffered cardiac arrest on the pitch, but was responsive by the time he was taken off on the stretcher."
Certainly not our best performance by a long way and it was not helped by a very inept ref and a team of cheating giants. We are loosing but we show no urgency to get on with the game with no one in the team trying to inspire his team mates to get out of the situation just carry on as if we were leading. When we get a corner what do we do prat about playing it short and end up passing back to the goalie. Not once did we do this but three times we wasted corners with this out come have we got a team of slow learners. Then just to put the icing on the cake Williams has a hissy fit by getting sent of for first yellow for the tackle then the second yellow for having a stamp on the attacker. He does seem to have a short fuse may be we ought to send him on an anger management course because he is a liability to the team with his lack of control. Then just to finish my lack of enjoyment today we had the most useless ref we have seen all season who was completely bought by all the play acting and cheating by the opposition. I did not enjoy todays performance and if we play the same on Friday night I think the result will be the same but hope for a better ref.
Have never been so angry at a ref for a very long time.
Criminal performance from him.
Our players were also naive and lacking in experience as to how to deal with the play acting, winding up and other assorted dark arts that they employed. We overreacted and lost focus.
Had a good (and horrific) view of their second goal where it seemed we didn’t have a single defender in the right place when the ball was whipped across and their players were literally lining up in a row waiting to score. Not a good look.
They were also top notch and a really good team who know exactly how to work together as a unit.
I’m a real fan of Williams as he’s a fighter but he fell for the actions of a cheating wind up merchant, but hopefully he’ll learn how to react better in future.

Lad probably about 17/18 years old was escorted out the terrace and he looked VERY pale. He talked to another steward then fainted. He eventually came to and stood up and had some colour in his face. Hopefully all ok.
SL mentioned their second goal that I was banging on about. He was bewildered as to how open we were for it.
Just when we were on top.
The dangers of switching off so often in these situations.
We lack experience as I said, they have been together for ages, we just have to be patient with our players in that they’ll get better the more games they rack up together.
