It was obvious the ref dealt more harshly with our players than theirs as outlined in one of the previous posts. Not sure he gave us a penalty, more like he had no other option for what was a blatant foul.
We need more defenders like Williams, not less. I haven’t seen this short fuse temper thing in Williams (before today) that a few on this forum seem to point out. Instead, I see a no-nonsense competitor who we need more of in our side to be honest.
I gave them the credit they deserve, but we were actually in control of the game at the point we lost that soft second goal.
The ref didn’t lose this game for us today, but he was a contributor to the end result for sure
Thanks Lightblue, exactly what forum is for a range of views not always in agreement
Cheers Westander. Exactly as you say, it’s all about opinions.
Scott stressed how much more experience Mansfield had than us.Was that a hint to Wagmi with the January transfer window coming up?
I think so sooty, you’re spot on. I think sometimes he looks on at some opposition players he comes up against and thinks, if only I had someone like him!
Im sure he’s happy with the players he’s signed from lower leagues but I think he’d kill for a few more higher end signings to help the less experienced along in their development.
He needs one or two older heads who are able to turn matches in our favour when we start to lose the grip in games.
Problem is those players want the wages to match so Wagmi support for SL is vital.
Does anyone know what happened in the south stand? Medical emergency team were summoned quickly and I saw someone being stretchered away, sitting upright, so hopefully was ok.
Young lad looked very peeky and was with a friend and being helped out by stewards. Took a turn for worse as medical help arrived but after a few minutes seemed to perk up and I think went back and watched game.
Luca is also better with his kicks and distribution.
However the main problem has always been the defence and formation. Defenders are too slow, not good at tackling and only playing 3 at the back, and no full backs, leads us open to fast wingers and crosses. I feel playing four at the back including Ransom, would resolve these issues, but Scott seems to prefer the current system.
Then, when we have possesion Williams steps out of the back line to take up a defensive midfield role.
Light blue, see the comment above why we are so open when we lose the ball. Aquick pass to a wide man who is up against a centre back. A quick cross and the attackers are running onto the ball and are, therefore, better placed to attack than we are to defend.
I really like the system except when it comes to us turning over the ball.

I get it now ta. Like you, I love our attacking style which is fully down to SL’s coaching and don’t want to change that if truth be told.
Sometimes though I look on with envy at opposition teams the way they shut up shop to protect leads, but I guess we’re not built to do that yet.
Still think the future is rosy with SL in charge, just need Wagmi to open up that chequebook come January please and thank you.

My take: we are either lowest budget or close to lowest budget in L2, and I think the lowest we've been this season is 14 from 24 (currently 13th), but in a cluster of clubs only 1 or 2 points from a play off place. I imagine most Crawley supporters would have taken that at the start of August, but our flying start spoiled us a little.
