I just published Oh The Posh Posh Travelling Life, The Travelling Life For Me
It should be a match report, but Crawley Town's game against Peterborough United in the BSM Trophy got called off an hour before kick off. So it's a non-match report.
you took it well - its a real shame for all of the fans who turned up.
I do know how it feels after rushing from work one night to get to a game (not Crawley) and find myself walking to the ground amidst empty streets (before smart phones!) and it was only after the 30 minute walk that a policeman told me it was off! I was able to get to the rearranged game but lost the cost of train etc and froze waiting for trains home! All in the name of being a fan I guess but again impressed how well you have taken it

I think the fact we've been off work and done sightseeing, along with the euphoria of Saturday's win shields it a bit. And there's nothing we can do about it, so best to shrug it off. If it falls right and I get time off then I get another visit to Peterborough.
Huge respect to all Reds fans that made the journey, had travel costs, time off etc. Not so Posh announced an hour before ko through social media game on.
1. What time did match ref arrive? 2. What time did match ref do pitch inspectim 3. Do not so Posh check point 2 above outcome? If not why not and why not say Game on but subject to match ref pitch inspection at 7pm etc just like Crawley have done in the past.
Ultimately for fans to take this trophy seriously the match ref needs to arrive earlier and undertake the pitch inspection sooner. Did local ref discuss with him?
After inspection 2 (1 and 2 done by a different ref than the match ref) I travelled down from York, on the East Coast Mainline already suffering from a fatality in the morning North of York that cancelled the train I would have used and others. I arrived on a 30 min delayed train at Peterborough at 6.15 just as game postponed. My observations - 1. From Peterborough reaction when game postponed, they felt that decision should have been made after inspection 1 or 2 2. C57a is talking out of the relevant orifice 3. On arrival at Peterborough, it was bloody freezing, and noticeably considerably colder than when I'd left York AND arrived back in York. It was slippy, icy underfoot. 4. The decision of inspection should be taken by the competition organiser after representation from the host club 5. Your average fan might reasonably think, "why are BSM sponsoring this cluster****" 6. Should there be a compensation scheme
Lastly, and on the plus side, we're in the quarter final draw.

There is Clearly a Difference of Opinion here, and the ones who suffered are those who travelled to the match yesterday - staff, players & fans.
These are the FACTS:-
1/ Ferguson clearly admits earlier in the week that he could do without this game 2.5 days before a very important League Fixture. 2/ Scott states he will be putting out a Strong Team earlier in the week. 3/ The Pitch Covers came off at Midday ready for the 1st Pitch Inspection, They came off again @ 2pm ready for the 2nd pitch inspection, then they remained OFF until 19.45pm. 4/ It was Sunny & 7 degrees in the morning yesterday in Peterborough. It was 4 degrees and clear at 20.30pm yesterday in Peterborough. 5/ There has been no rain for 48 hours in Peterborough. 6/ This is the 2nd time this season that a match has been called off at the POSH this season at the last minute - there excuse each time we have drainage but we have no underground heating.

MAKE YOUR OWN MINDS UP.....
Re point 1, Charlton are only 13th in League. If this is an important game to Ferguson, will he try and get new date called off as well as next game now against Lincoln 11th in League and after home game against Shrewsbury , 15th in League? Hopefully he will put out weakened team. We also don't have game on 27th so good date for us.
Looking at the prize money, we get £40k for beating Peterborough and at least £50k for each subsequent win. Far more than the Carabao Cup and reason to put our best team out when this game is finally played.

And can anyone tell me why this match has not been rearranged for Wed 24th Jan which would suit us?
Its simple Ferguson has more clout than we do! Wed postponement should be rearranged for a Wed not a Tues because it suits Posh better, and suits us less so!

Its Disgraceful!
Because the game was only on a Wednesday originally because of their FA Cup game on Sunday. Normal Tuesday night game is what would be expected for any rearranged game.
