Below is typical EFL self-justifying bollerx, issued via a tweet/X
Regarding last night's @bsm_Trophy fixture postponement between @theposh and @crawleytown, an EFL spokesperson said:
“EFL fixture postponement protocols are in place firstly to protect participants and secondly, to ensure that matches are played on a suitable playing surface to protect the integrity of the competition.
“It remains the League’s policy to give fixtures every chance to go ahead as scheduled, even in circumstances where the weather conditions are challenging, as in the case of Wednesday afternoon and evening.
“This approach can, on occasions, lead to difficult and unpopular decisions taken at short notice, but calling games off too early in the day will also cause a significant amount of frustration amongst
Clubs and supporters.
The League further notes the comments issued publicly by the Club’s manager but maintains that an independent assessment of the surface by PGMOL, alongside consultation with Clubs, is the appropriate way to determine whether a fixture can take place or not.
“The circumstances of the postponement remain subject to review.”
It's the EFL. What did you expect? Fecking incompetent. As are PGMOL.

Buffoon
As a member of the Buffoon Club (UK branch), I feel it is vastly unfair to be linked to this person.
By my calculations we have earned £65,000 from our progress so far in this trophy (we would have to get to the semi final of the Carabao cup to earn a similar amount).
I therefore am surprised clubs/fans don't take it that seriously (I suppose the minimal TV coverage makes a difference, although I understand this is to be increased next season).
My suggestion would to get rid of the U-21 sides and invite the top 14 of the National League and the 2 clubs relegated from the EFL the previous season. I think this would make the competition much more competitive and boost crowds. I am sure the likes of Aldershot, Barnet, Bromley, Woking and Dorking (if the latter two finish high enough!), would bring much more fans than the U-21 teams and also make attractive away days.

After all, they used to have National League sides in the competition, as we played in it a couple of times before getting league status.

I totally agree with this but the prize money would disappear as it’s the premier clubs that fund it so that their under 21’s can play in it - the EFL sold us down the line when agreeing to this change in format
Almost right George, winners of Peterborough v Crawley have been drawn at home to AFC Wimbledon. So we may end up playing them twice in 10 days or thereabouts
