I see people are saying we need to go into the loan market. The problem there is I struggle to recall anyone we got on loan in the summer who did well for us.
Without going through lists of loanees the only two i can think of were Rhys Murphy and James Balagizi (I am not such a big fan of Balagizi as others here are) both of whom got recalled in December leaving us in the lurch for the second half of the season.
Basically, if we do get a loanee in the summer, and they are good for us, don't expect them to be here in January.

Well then we just get some more loanees in in January.

Agreed. Also I don't feel Scott wants to rely too much on the loan market. I think the only loans he may be interested in are season long loans of experienced players such as Maguire who he feels will play week in week out. He seems to rely on a core amount of about 16 plays so no point in bringing in loan players if not going to play.
I don't think he likes bringing in young players from Championship or Premiership clubs either. Why spend time improving and coaching young players from other clubs when you can spend that time developing our own players like Lolos, Williams, Mukena, Forster, and Adeyemo, and hopefully Fish, Khaleel and Papadopolous. None of the young loan players we have got in under Scott have been given much game time, so clubs may be reluctant to loan us young players anyway now.
1) I was worried we only had 20 players going into pre-season. This year we have 16 with a week to go. Let's hope we sign a few next week!
2) We were concerned that we were signing players mainly from non league (Only Orsi and Wright came from league clubs, with Kelly from relegated Rochdale). This year we have only signed one player from non-league. Let's hope there are more signing from EFL than non-league this year.
3) Last year we were concerned about lack of experience and were favourites for relegation. The manager and players came good and we were promoted! This year we are favourites for relegation again. Let's hope the recruitment team do well, we get some experienced players and prove the doubters wrong.
Exciting week ahead with fixtures and two cup draws (Carabao and BSM) to come. We tend to sign a few players in late June/early July, so let's hope we sign some new players soon, and club update on season ticket sales, a good pre-season home game and a shirt sponsor/new kit in the not too distant future.
Sounds like we are signing a promising young keeper from a National League club (as per latest CSTA Podcast). Likely he will go out on loan, but Steve Hale, goalkeeping coach says vital to have three keepers as third keeper does a lot of intensive shot work when strikers are doing shooting practice. Sounds like Sandford will be our number 2 and intention to get him some game time pre-season and in cup games.
