Also just read Bolton, Chesterfield, Oxford & Charlton are also interested in Benji Magee. So Basically Half the Football League want him. We must be a 66/1 shot to land him. But would make a Good Statement for our Club if we got him! All this interest for a Part-Timer Wow!
All joking aside, if the club’s recruiting team and SL rate him and think he’ll fit into the squad, then I’m all for it.
I think we should always be cautious about lower league players being wanted widespread through the leagues.
This strongly suggests that he has a very active and ambitious agent, rather than been scouted by all these clubs.
An initial approach from the agent, keeping the details short will usually initiate a reply along the lines of "do you have/could you send further details".
It all counts as interest to drive his salary demands up.
Looking on Google, he scored 16 in 36 last year, was NI young player of year and called up to NI U-21, so see why interest from lower leagues, but would expect us to be outbid if interested.

Just Read today £100k Bid from Doncaster Rejected for Benji Magee. Apparently he trained 3 nights a week last season, and he Smokes 15-a-Day, goes to the pub 4 nights a week, but still they come in their Hundreds for him! Wow!
I like to keep an eye on other clubs signings in L1 and 2.
MK Dons and especially Burton Albion have signed loads of players.
Think Burton’s experience of flirting with relegation last season may have scared them in to buying everyone with a pulse!
They have signed quality though.
Burton also have new owners willing to spend money on first season. Was hoping they would be one of stragglers but unlikely now. Shrewsbury also signed a few.
A little worrying that teams I thought would struggle are buying established league players and we are not.
Reading, Orient, Bristol Rovers, Northampton, Wrexham and Exeter only teams not to sign anyone yet.

Did you really expect anything else? Our playing budget is just south of a 10 year old's pocket money.

Im getting worried thats about it no big signing did that and look where he is now? Has the piggybank been emptied? What did we spend all that money from Wembley and promotion on? A booze up afterwards? Yes still time but come on Crawley, im losing patience!
Crawley are always slow to get going transfer wise (this actually the quickest they have signed someone in three years!). Hopefully there will be more signings next week? I am sure we will have a for a few more by the first pre-season game.
It must be hard however to attract players in L1 considering the size of the budget, stadium, club name and fans of our competitors. We can attract non league players as they see it is a way back in and will get game time, but even bigger teams in L2 can look more attractive to experienced players.

I disagree. Crawley is a town full of charracter charm and outstanding natural neauty and surrounded by beautiful towns and villages and communities like Pease Pottage.
Its like chalk and cheese when compared to those Northern slums. We aint just attracting players to the best club in the country, but the culture capital of the country too.
What other town has so much history, architecture nature, outstanding natural beauty and world relevant dominance? These players we call up need to give themselves a shake-up and smell the roses and coffee of Crawley. The agents need to sort their heads out from their back-sides and explain the benefits of living and earning a crust in Crawley. Yeah I said a crust, dont be getting gready Mr backstab agent as we can make you more easy money you scavanger in the long run by selling the lad on for a fat profit. The repeat and recycle.
What sorta challenge is your man gonna get at Blackpool or Burnley or Birmingham or Bolton when he can have glory at Crawley. We may have fewer fans but we have the most loyal and dedicated fan base in the country and when the big games come along we'll show up, don't you worry.
Crawley or Hull or Middlesborough. Dont make me laugh. No contest. Crawley. Now get that fvcking message out there Mr Agent.

We’ve had an incredible season just gone when SL and his staff have performed miracles in making stars of National League players and others and all on a shoestring budget.
I’d certainly want to be part of that scene plus there are loads of towns and villages surrounding Crawley where players can choose to live so it really shouldn’t be an issue in that respect.
The owners obviously want to grow the club whatever way they think best so part of that process must be to climb the leagues obviously!
I’ll say again that I think all of our first team members (whoever is left!) can hold their own in L1 , but to be able to survive in that league we might need some extra muscle and talent on top of what we have by more additions than we’ve been able to sign already to put it mildly.
Still have to pinch myself that we’ve got in to a league which contains previous FA Cup winners and premier league clubs who are part of English football history, but i just hope we are at least aggressively exploring the loan market to get some extra reinforcements and asap, because we need them to add resilience to the squad.
