There are quite a few managers that are currently out of work that would want the chance to get back in the game. This is a good time to get the right man in place for the forthcoming season !!!
First things first. Who wants the job? Then make the choice from one of those.
I would like this person or that to be manager but if they don't want the job then wishing won't make it happen.
The other issue is if our owner doesn't like him. Say we all agree that (name out of hat) Martin Allen should get the job. Owner interviews him and thinks he is a complete bell end. No way he gets the job.
I personally think that what we did with Barker and Drummy is the right way for us to go. I accept that it didn't work out but I still think appointing a coach looking to make his way into management is the better way for a small club such as ours.
Is there a time frame set out? Presumably we want to new person in fairly soon so can decide on who is staying and start talking to potential targets
In his press conference, Mr Eren said that he wanted somebody in within a fortnight. That was about 10 days ago so I would hope that we will hear something this week. Although it may be worth waiting a bit longer if it means getting the right person in place.
Thinks he's the non league Mourinho, more like the non league Harry Redknapp.
A wheeler dealer in the transfer market and has pulled off some big coups. I have fond memories of catching the odd game at Lewes when Crawley were playing away 10 years ago, he built a great side with the likes of Andy Drury playing for them and got them promoted to the conference, but was fired at the end of season and Lewes have been on a downward spiral since.
He seems good on delivering short term success, but seems to fall out with his employers eventually and has left some of the clubs he's been at in a state.
He also lacks any football league experience. I like him as a personality, but I don't think he would be right for Crawley.
Well he has delivered results before but the common denominator - he has always had a decent budget relative to the level of football.
Lewes first time around - they would have gone bust had the plug not been pulled. Farnborough - their financial incompetence is legendary. Whitehawk - big finances - Kissock, Torres, Deering, Neilson on a Conf South budget.
Then of course there are the other 'issues' - left Lewes second time after an 'internal investigation', fired by Macclesfield amidst talk of 'off field issues' etc.
Still I must say I would prefer him to Westley, Mr Loyalty or some other washed up league manager. However it could just be a slow news day at the Obby as it seems their main source is speculation on the fans forum.
