Some thoughts on some names being mentioned...
Dean Saunders- Despite most agreeing that in his time here he did a reasonable job under difficult circumstances, ultimately it counted for nothing as we were relegated. He’s had 5 clubs and 2 relegations and 2 sackings, not a great record in management at all, don’t think he’s the man to take us forward.
Jay Saunders- The other Saunders! Did a good job at national league Maidstone in getting them promoted 3 times and was involved in all areas of the club from the academy to the first team, sounds like a promising manager the kind we would want in, however no experience of managing in league football!
John Yems- Don’t understand the hype around him at all. No experience of managing in the league and very little experience of managing at all, dabbled in non league management for a while, but nothing recently at all. Yes he has coached in the Premier league with Bournemouth, but coaching and managing are too different animals, a massive risk.
Of those managers listed, Grayson, Bowyer and Warburton would all be great, but realistically we probably couldn’t afford/ attract the calibre off manager we want and need to stand a good chance of promotion. Realistically, whoever we pick will be a gamble, we can’t afford to have an established manager who’s won promotion at this level, judging by the last 2 appointments under Mr Eren it’ll be someone without league experience and someone who hasn’t any connection to the club despite his hot air.
Time for Mr Eren and co to decide where they really want us to go.
