The refereeing standard is poor and that foul on Payne was definitely a red. Maybe it’s time for another official to support the referee or lower league VAR rollout? Poor decisions regularly by officials will cost clubs dearly.
When you see how poorly VAR is applied in the Premier League I'd have very little confidence it would be used well in the lower leagues. Plus I like being able to celebrate a goal here without worrying about it getting dissallowed 2 minutes later because a player's fingernail was offside in the build up to it

Good point, and to be fair not all clubs will have the facilities for it anyway without some investment I suspect. I do feel for the officials they do get a lot of stick but something has to change.

So many referees fail signally in carrying out one if their key duties; to protect players from reckless play and injury .... do they ever get brought to account, let alone "charged"? Of course not! The frustration of being a football manager, must be massive.
The thing is, these totally Incompetent match officials (Kettle and Huxtable among others) with their dreadful and woeful decisions, do affect promotion or even relegation places with some clubs as well as manager’s getting sacked or not, yet those Clowns still get to referee a game the following week!!

Drysdale is the worst one I think, how he's still in his job after his disastrous performance down here vs Harrogate, as well as headbutting a player last season, I haven't got a clue

On a different note, how come we were able to use 4 subs ?

One was a concussion sub, after Tilley was knocked out and had to go off.

Lets stop blaming the refs - they do their best
Their best is not good enough!!
Ever wondered why we keep getting the usual dross to officiate at League 2 level?
Football - as in most aspects of life - is about facing & overcoming challenges... those challenges include (in no particular order): - The opposition players - your own players - the opposition fans - your own fans - the weather - the pitch - the facilities - the travelling - the food - and of course, the officials... plenty more beside...
...but on occasions, scoring more goals than the other lot is actually not the biggest challenge...!

Come on Thad you need to get things in perspective here, its a major challenge drying your hands after you have washed them in the West Stand Gents. That's the biggest challenge we face at this club.

When we get to a decent level we will get decent refs - like we perform at times they have off days too- for now they do their best which is all I would ask of them
The referees have to start somewhere. When they are officiating in non-league, the decision whether they are good enough to move into league football is taken on the recommendation of their regional superviser and head of the county referee's association, based on match reports and regular assessments.
Most counties will have monthly meetings and thode who are up to moving up will be discussed.
Each season, a number of refs will be deemed good enough and they will start in League Two. Usually the new refs are not given any big games for some time - this means no key games affecting promotion or relegation, so they start with steady ordinary, routine, mid-table matches, so who do we normally get...those with little or no experience at this level.
