Betsy needs to be less of a coach and more of a manager whatever he said at halftime change us,yes you need tactics but Div 2 is very physical and in the second half that's what we became, quicker more combative the football then comes naturally.
Well the fans at the ground weren’t putting him under pressure at the end. The owners won’t. So good luck with trying to generate some online I guess
The fans around me were saying it wasn't good enough and Betsy ball is bollocks.
Would you prefer them to shout it out...like they were criticised for doing v Orient?
I am not trying to generate anythingby the way. I come along to watch football and be entertained. I learned long ago that my take on who the manager is/isn't doesn't mean diddly squat but our worst start to a season in the football league EVER. must have him under pressure or Wagmi's stated aim of progression is also rubbish.
Jim Baker
Difficult one Jim. I don't disagree with what you say, when the support turns against you it can get ugly both financially and otherwise.
On the other hand calling for Betsy out after 4 games is unrealistic (I can remember Fergie being one game away in 1990 too...).
KB is trying to totally overhaul the playing side. He was dealt a tough hand as our owners managed to give most of last season's squad new deals, and must have known when KB was appointed that they had tied his hands a bit.
We were never going to walk the league this year, there are too many good teams around for that. Plus changing managers every 5 mins never achieves much apart from a big pay off.
I would give him 10 games and then see. Personally I have my doubts about trying to play Barcelona football with L2 players, but KB knows more about football than I do. There are some talented but inexperienced players at the club, let's see if he can mould them into a team.
Very annoying match today for totally different reasons, I thought we were desperately unlucky not to get something from there.
Nadesan getting criticism is unfair I think when he pretty much set up the 2nd goal. I think the key difference was they had one guy who is way too good for this division (Sam Hoskins) and that can make a big difference
Nadders should have had a hat trick and his lack of confidence in shooting is showing. Just as well he passed for the 2nd goal as I doubt he would have finished it off. He is wasyted on wing and is much more effective in centre and hopefully will get a goal or two to rebuild the Nadders brand. But yesterday he was poor.
Started the game well and scored after a nice passing move, but a poor goal conceded from a throw in (how many ****** goals have we conceded from throw ins over the last few seasons) and then a keeper error from the free kick them they’re ahead. All in all it’s been awful. We don’t compete in midfield and we have no plan B. Kev still doesn’t know his best team yet and we have no plan b. I can’t see this guy lasting the whole season. Last season was better than this we seem to be going backwards not forwards- literally and figuratively!
Perhaps the administrator could ask the administrator to manage their use of language on the site - no need for profanities and doesn't set a good example

Tied his hands? KB has so far signed 17 players! Including the leagues top scorer who was linked with championship clubs. Why Crawley? Because the owners backed the manager by paying him massive wages. Yes Telford scored goals last season was it a wise call from KB to gamble a big percentage of the budget on him? Owners have backed the manager taking Crawley from lowest budget to top 5, and that’s not because we gave some contracts out to existing players. If he was dealt a tough hand he didn’t need to give Nadesan who was comfortably our top earner a new contract did he?
How do you sum that game up? The first half was as disappointing as the second half was outstanding - one of the most exciting halves of football I can recall.
In the first half we were slow and lethargic. The slowness of the play had a considerable impact on the front players. Too many times, instead of passing the ball with pace, we took too long, slowed the ball down and the energy from the move was lost. The front players had already made their moves and runs and were static allowing Northampton time to regain their shape.
We did manage to take an early lead - Nads played in for Balagizi to score his first professional goal amid great relief all round - then came the turgidity of the rest of the half. As others have mentioned, Northampton are a very good side, apart from Hoskins, their number nine was outstanding and a real handful and I am sure they will be near the top at the end of the season and to a certain extent we made them look good.
Both their goals came from set pieces and how annoying to lose a goal from a throw in!! Sam Hoskins though has been outstanding in the last six months and took his goal superbly. The second goal was a tremendously well taken free kick - it will be interesting to see the highlights - from where I was, he either put it over, or around the wall. Corey's positioning was strange - he was standing near his right hand post leaving acres of space to his left (where the ball went). Most keepers now prefer to stay more central for these types of kicks and at 6'7" Corey could easily stay central and still reach either side of the goal.
For all that and Northampton's neat play and pressing, they didn't manage to penetrate the back line and I don't recall Corey making anything other than routine saves for the rest of the half. Our defence coped with pretty much everything they had - other than the set pieces. I thought Manny had a fantastic game and Tony Craig didn't put a foot wrong.
The second half was totally different - Northampton clearly tired and we upped the tempo of the game and I still can't understand how we managed to lose - I think the winning goal was their only shot on target in the whole half.
We scored a fantastic second goal, when Nads left their defender for dead from the half way line and fed a great ball to Balagizi for his second goal. Other than the goal, we played far, far better in this half, the link up play worked, the front players were being played in at the right times and it made a difference. However good Nads was in setting up the goals though, he still managed to miss two one on ones with their keeper, which was disappointing - that is where the game was won and lost.
We had more than enough changes to finish the game off and it was an outstanding effort throughout the second half. Then they caught us at the back - a mis-control allowed their player through and a missed tackle allowed him a shot from about eight yards which Corey could do nothing about. Some of the Northampton fans on their forum felt it was a real smash and grab but I am sure they couldn't care about that.
It was a strange feeling at the end - the buzz of how well we played, together with the disappointment at losing a late goal.
I can't recall Corey making a meaningful save in the second half.
Nazeed (outstanding again), Balagizi, Hess, Nads(?), Manny and Tony Craig were my pick of our best players and how can you deny MoM to Balagizi?
Play the way we did in the second half and we will be more than ok this season.

Quite a number of those signed are youngsters who I doubt will play much - Greensall, Wells, Shubbar etc.
The point about Telford is a good one. His stats are really curious. From 2014 to April 2021 his scoring record was ordinary. 14 league goals in 7 seasons.
From August 2021 to Feb 2022 he was unbelievable, 25 league goals in 27 games for Newport.
From March 2022 back to ordinary, 1 league goal in 15 games.
Stats don't tell the whole story, on the other hand these are the owners who play the analytics game. Would I have gambled a big chunk of the budget? Not sure, but after 2 games it isn't time to judge. Or perhaps we should have signed Courtney Baker-Richardson as his strike partner.....

Our Best Centre Half is Balagizi. Our Best Defensive Midfielder is Balagizi. Our Best Attacking Midfielder is Balagizi. Our Best Forward is Balagizi.
And we can only play him in 1 position each match.
Still makes me laugh every day that Wagmi asked us to vote on whether we want a Goalie, Defender, Midfielder or Attacker.
We voted for a Midfielder - and they supplied us with a £10k National League South Midfielder. Dont bother voting again on Wagmi's Silly Fan Votes. Waste of Time!
Was a very frustrating game last night. We were poor in the first half and played really well in the second half, got ourselves level and were pushing for a winner, but somehow conspired to lose the game in added time. All 3 goals were as a result of some poor mistakes and Nadders missed two one on one's so we should've got a point bear minimum from that game. 1 point out of 12 after all that hype in the summer is a big let down. We have a manager who doesn't know his best team or formation yet and our star striker who was top goalscorer in the league last season hasn't scored a goal and isn't playing. We have a manager, a host of new players and an ownership group who are all learning on the job and so far things aren't going well on the pitch so I'd happily take a top half finish at this rate, promotion is a long way off.

This is why I didn't want Nadesan to be offered a new contract as he simply is not a good enough finisher to take us to the next level. I wouldn't say his finishing is any worse than Nichols, but Nichols all round game is much better and he contributes to the team more than Nadesan even when he's not scoring. We've had Nadesan for a few seasons now and I don't think he's going to suddenly turn into a great finisher overnight. Supposedly the point of signing Telford was that he'd have finished off one of these 2 chances and we'd have got something from the game, but so far, through no fault of his own I think more to do with the system we're playing, he's been largely ineffetive.

We were robbed !
It was however, an excellent game of football, especially in the second half when we dominated the match, apart from their late goal of course.
Nadersan played well and showed some excellent pace, although he should have scored ay least 1, possibly 2 when clean through one to one on their keeper.
If Balagizi continues like he has done so far, he'll be League 2 Player of the season.
I hope Telford and Lynch are back soon. We could have done with them last night.

I’m not sure we should be signing more youngsters that aren’t going to play we already have quite a few of these. The numbers are increasing but quality decreases. I think it has more to do with the manager wants to coach kids so not interested in signing experienced players.

Do you really think we was robbed! They were much the better side first half after we caught them cold early on. Second half they sat back on their lead (as many away teams would) and once we equalised it’s then hard to shift the momentum. Even still they had more shots, more on target and more corners. I know stats aren’t everything but as the home side we hardly battered them.

They were the better side first half but I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say we battered them second half.
