I imagine that's highly likely. I hope he remembers that the people with more extreme opinions are often the most vocal, while the easier-going supporters often say little.
I've met the guy a couple of times since he joined and have found him to be really nice and easy to talk to. Partly why I really hope he can find a solution and turn things around, but I stil think if you give him time he will. He's very highly regarded in the coaching circles and it's also worth bearing in mind it was always going to take a bit of time to click considering how much has changed behind the scenes since May
I thought it was very noticeable that when everyone was going mental after the Fulham win, he stood back, kept a low profile and just let the players take the limelight. He's someone who I don't think gets too grinded down with setbacks and doesn't get too carried with the big wins over Bristol Rovers and Fulham. A level-headed guy who knows we are work in progress and will keep working on the small details to make us better. Very much reminds me of Graham Potter at Brighton who also had an unsteady start changing the style of the team and a few of the players but is now revered by some of the same fans who were very uneasy with him to start with.
No manager is guaranteed to be a success of course and indeed more probably fail than succeed but all deserve adequate time.
Six games is patently ridiculous and if you said that out loud to fans of any of our League 2 rivals they would collapse in hysterics at such muggy behaviour and think we were utterly tinpot
Totally agree Steve.. absolutely ridiculous poll. Good things come to those that wait. Honestly this is absurd ☹️
It's extra pathetic targeting a young manager. Yems started last season with one win in five games and two cup defeats (including two six-goal hammerings) with a settled squad, rather than the big rebuild for the future that Betsy is implementing. There was no similar outcry back then but we know this is nothing to do with football but all about other agendas and axes being grinded, against the owners. Betsy is just collateral damage in that campaign
I know the attacking stats have been pretty poor but I would say I think Betsy has improved us defensively compared to last season which I think is evident by the improvement we've seen in players such as Ransom (also bearing in mind we have had nearly all CBs unavailable at some point). In contrast, I thought we were often pretty poor at the back last season and kept making really bad mistakes, and I wouldn't have been totally shocked if we'd lost a game 8-0

How do we know he’s improved us defensively? We don’t attack that’s the problem. The passing is slow and ponderous and we often don’t commit players forward. We’ve just played bottom of the league and only managed a single shot on target. If we keep playing like this we won’t concede that many but we won’t win many games of football. Far from the attacking style we were promised. As for Ransom, he’s played what 2 games this season and last season was on loan at Dover. I don’t suppose many of us followed him at Dover so to credit Betsy with improving him as a player is a little far fetched!
I haven't voted as the whole concept is ill advised at this stage of the season and this adds no value especially as so few voting makes result meaningless
How many jobs are there where you would look to fire somebody without a proper induction period?
You know my view - end of season to review progress and ideally keep him on.
I know Nick and I disagree on this, but that's no bad thing as there are always going to be a variety of views and no one view is right.
So your happy for the club to be relegated and keep him in charge or am I reading that incorrectly?
Thanks for question GG - I assume you are a generally half empty type rather than half full hence the handle you use? Like everybody, I would see relegation as a nightmare and put us in a position we may never recover from so no that s not what I was saying. To be clear, I want us to give Betsy the full season to prove himself as I cannot see any way with the team (including management) we wont improve. To me its a process that needs time and I would even take third from bottom if that is what is needed but would expect us to pick up gradually and move up the league. Nobody starting a new job can be fairly assessed after such a short time and we shouldn't expect miracles. I think I , like many, probably saw Wagmi as a cash cow and cash means success - I still think it will but not overnight. So I for one, have high hopes, am enjoying this season more than any for the last few years even though we haven't yet performed as well as we know we can and look forward positively to seeing a team who gain in both confidence and stature resulting in more points on the board. Time to go back to the half a pint I have left in my glass! Share one with me.

Yeah I’m sure all the other ‘top budget’ sides in league 2 would be absolutely thrilled with 2 pts in 6 games. Bravo bravo Betsy they would chant. Yes Crawley fans are well known for being a tough crowd.

Love the humour! But please try and show some patience
Westander, I don't want Betsy sacked but to say you've enjoyed this season isn't a glass half full statement that's a me tankard is full and I have a couple more lined up sort of statement!
As for other teams having more patience than us. I'm going to have to disagree again Steve. Rochdale have sacked their manager, Hartlepool fans are calling for their manager to be sacked, Swindon fans are running out of patience and there are even rumblings against Clough at Mansfield. Rightly or wrongly football fans have always been a fickle bunch.

I've never come across any League 2 team in recent times that's sacked their manager after 6 games, particularly one that's just beaten a Premier League team. You can give me a list of course, I'm all ears

The Rochdale manager was there 13 months Jim. Come on, these are basic facts

I am showing patience, I’m going to the games to support the team and it’s a long drive back from Rochdale after that performance! The mistakes have been all too predictable though, and every day Betsy is in the job the bigger the rebuilding project will be. They obviously decided that we had too old a side but do you think signing 19 players under the age of 25 was a wise move to build a squad for league 2? Do you think tippy tappy at the back is working? I could go on and on about the mistakes we’ve made but I don’t want to criticise too many of the signings but I feel we would struggle if the season did become a relegation scrap. Betsy was praising the players after Rochdale whereas I thought he should have been giving them a dressing down. I think he’s a kids coach not a manager of a mens team.

Did you think Yems should be sacked after his start to the season last year? One win in five games plus two cup defeats, hammered by six goals in two games. If not, why not?
In what way is is it a valid poll? its far to early asking for this .
Er..., try reading the last paragraph again.
If a poll is ever a valid way of asking if someone should be sacked or not then at least this one allows people to express their view and a rationale behind it. To say someone is not allowed to express an opinion because it is too early adds very little to the argument without further expansion. Tell us why it is too early.
The poll asking which position should we get a star player for was a hell of a lot less valid than this one but plenty of people took part. A poll for what should happen at a football club is generally pointless as the decision will or will not be made regardless of our meaningless ramblings on a football forum. Take part, knowing it means very little, put your point of view across, read the counter arguments and rinse and repeat.

Er, i did but you don't make much sense, the only thing i can take from your post is that you come over quite rude.

What are you talking about man. We had a slow start yes but after 6 league games we were on 7 points. After 9 league games we were on 14 points. If Betsy can equal that after 9 games I take it all back. So to answer your question, no it was clear Yems did have a eye for a player and on the smallest budget and squad size he over performed even though he wasn’t my cup of tea. This was off the back of previous season when again he’d over performed his budget by us finishing 13th. I think one of the games you mentioned where we got hammered was an efl trophy game 6-1 to Charlton. Don’t know about anyone else but I couldn’t give a monkeys about the papa johns! We are now top few budget in the league. The owners have said minimum top 7 finish. It’s not even comparable to when Yems was in charge yet people saying happy finishing 22nd!
