Doesn’t that say more about modern day football fans and social media than anything though?
It does but in certain ways that was my point.
I haven't asked for Betsy to be sacked but we have to face the truth that the start in league has been horrendous. Trying to sugar coat it with the manager needs more time or lots of new players that need time to gel is deluding ourselves.
Betsy, the start has been terrible. Sort it out!
Jim Baker
A big part of the arguments being made here and elsewhere (& I am arguing for sacking him now or at least by the end of October that has a high percentage currently on the vote herein) is not "sort it out Betsy" but a belief he CANNOT sort it out, because he only knows his tippy tappy football way.

So your happy for the club to be relegated and keep him in charge or am I reading that incorrectly?
Thanks for question GG - I assume you are a generally half empty type rather than half full hence the handle you use? Like everybody, I would see relegation as a nightmare and put us in a position we may never recover from so no that s not what I was saying. To be clear, I want us to give Betsy the full season to prove himself as I cannot see any way with the team (including management) we wont improve. To me its a process that needs time and I would even take third from bottom if that is what is needed but would expect us to pick up gradually and move up the league. Nobody starting a new job can be fairly assessed after such a short time and we shouldn't expect miracles. I think I , like many, probably saw Wagmi as a cash cow and cash means success - I still think it will but not overnight. So I for one, have high hopes, am enjoying this season more than any for the last few years even though we haven't yet performed as well as we know we can and look forward positively to seeing a team who gain in both confidence and stature resulting in more points on the board. Time to go back to the half a pint I have left in my glass! Share one with me.
Yes I'm a glass half full kinda guy I'm afraid
I appreciate your reply and clarification on the question I thought that was what uou meant but wasn't 100% sure - that's the glass half full mentality in me
I've met the guy a couple of times since he joined and have found him to be really nice and easy to talk to. Partly why I really hope he can find a solution and turn things around, but I stil think if you give him time he will. He's very highly regarded in the coaching circles and it's also worth bearing in mind it was always going to take a bit of time to click considering how much has changed behind the scenes since May
Six games is patently ridiculous and if you said that out loud to fans of any of our League 2 rivals they would collapse in hysterics at such muggy behaviour and think we were utterly tinpot
Yes it is but it isn’t entirely unprecedented. A certain person that we all know and love lasted a mere 7 games at Barnet and 14 at Notts County. This after County had obviously been tapping him up behind the back of his employers.

They only sacked him because they didn't want the expense of widening the doorways.
You know full well he wasn't talking about women and any under 16s age groups, that's a deliberate wind-up comment. Presumably you think Brighton only beat Forest Green Rovers 2-0 midweek because you can't count the goal scored by their Academy Player Evan Ferguson who is not a professional footballer? Keep this flawless logic coming.
Would love to hear you tell James Balagizi that as an 18-year-old Academy player you're lumping him in with the under 14s
Thanks for arguing my point better than I could have…Ferguson is part of Brighton’s 25 player first team squad! We have 40 and I wouldn’t mind betting that will grow by the end of the season. Now I know you don’t like anyone to question Betsy, but I will keep things simple and I know you like Steve evans so here we go - At Stevenage Evans has gone for a smaller 20 man squad with more experience which has yielded 13 points from 6 games. So my “flawless logic” is Betsy’s 40 man squad is far too big and not enough experience. So Steve you agree with Betsy that 40 man squad lacking experience is the way to go? I know you don’t like anyone having a different opinion to you, but if I started a poll asking is the squad too big more than 50% would agree so I feel entitled to have my opinion. It’s not Betsys money at the end of the day so he’s going to keep asking for more. You keep talking about long term plans and Balagizi, you do realise he’s only on loan? We have to give him back at the end of the season, and not sure he’s going to want to come back to play National league football.
Again - this slippery moving of goalposts by you says so much. One minute you are saying we beat a team full of Fulham stiffs who weren't Premier League players, then the next minute you are saying 17-year-old Academy Player Evan Ferguson is a fully fledged Premier League player, it's just whatever suits you at various moments to better trash our football?
Yes I do realise James is on loan, that's implicit in my point to you was that he's an 18-year-old Liverpool academy player? The kind you write off as not real professional footballers, for some reason. One minute you say we don't want inexperience, the next it's crocodile tears that we have to give James back to Liverpool.
Those goalposts keep sliding along as you paint this little picture of a humble fan merely asking questions about Betsy, no actually you are part of a very silly campaign to get him sacked after 6 games.
Would actually be great to have a grown-up conversation about Betsy's strengths and weaknesses early days so far, but how is that possible when it's just fielding bizarre nonsense about sacking him? If we can bin the extreme rhetoric, then the quality of the football chat on here will go up a few notches no doubt
Although it felt like squeezing blood from a stone, the game against Fulham suggests he is prepared to experiment with substituting a high workrate and some long passing for a skill level that may be beyond most league 2 players. It was noticeable (at least to me) that an adjustment to style brought some benefits. That's not to say it would work against all opponents, but at least there seemed to be a plan b forming for when we need it. I suspect Betsy hated dropping aspects of his purist approach, but the point is that he did it. Of course, it may simply be that the players totally ignored his team talk for that match.
EDIT: Reading further into this, it's less about results than about veiled criticism of those who control Bournemouth's purse strings.
Jack Ross has been sacked after just 7 games at Dundee United. But he lost one game 7-0 and obviously were beaten 9-0 by Celtic on Sunday, plus were beaten convincingly by Hearts and St Mirren. Makes our start look utterly amazing in comparison
Yeah, but sacked after four games this season. Half way was acceptable to the Rochdale board, bottom wasn't.
And that is a basic fact Steve.
Jim Baker
No, that's your spinning of the facts? He was sacked for his overall record over both seasons, and he certainly didn't finish halfway last season. Boards don't sack managers for 5 games' worth of results, ever, they will always take into account previous games. The equivalent for Betsy would be a disappointing finish well below halfway this season and a bad start to next season. We are 12 months away from even any chance of that happening, albeit face the tedious prospect of a hardcore group of naysayers pretending we are already here every week and not even giving Betsy five days' credit for beating a Premier League team. And we didn't even lose in Rochdale, hilariously. God can you imagine the meltdowns on here if that had happened
Steve, we're disagreeing again. We're both on the same side here...or are we?
I don't want him sacked but trying to sugar coat it does him and the club no favours.
Rochdale sacked their manager after saying he would be given every chance this summer with a budget to get players in. Yes what happened last season has a bearing but he was sacked for the performance of his team this season as well.
Then you choose only Rochdale. What about the fans at Hartlepool? What about the rumblings against Clough at Mansfield? As I said to John, fans are very fickle.
To me some of it relates to the expectation "we" had with the new owners and the positivity around the club. Last season was a reasonable season and to me I thought that we would push on this season and get play offs at least. The issue I have is can the tactics and style we want to play get us out of this division? If you can see improvement and the tweaking of the team and style then that's a positive. However fans of many clubs have bought the hype of a new coach and realised too late that it just isn't going to work. Have splinters from sitting on the fence.

so far the tactics and style do look like getting us outta this division......and into the National league!

Preston if you read this for goodness sake wake up man and realise Betsy is taking the club down. Appiah going just shows he is out of control. Obsessed with his youths playing and the expense of proven talent and experience. Betsy is a disaster. He has to go.
