When I asked him at the end of season dinner if he was staying he said "it isnt down to me is it", but in the end it sounds as though it pretty much was, although I think the club must have held out for this statement from him as part of the deal to try and deflect as much of the onus on to him as themselves. One thing that surprises me bearing in mind one of the big selling points of HK was his ability to raise the clubs profile is just how little we are hearing from him. Is it because of his poor first press conference or is Selim building a dictatorship as all we seem to hear is from the Director of Football/Marketing/PR/??
Sad to see Collins go but it was inevitable we would take the money. Well I suppose we just hope we can bring in someone who can score goal. I hate to be doom and gloom but we haven't had a good track record with signing forwards since Evans days, (and he tried so many some of them had to work out !)
think we will rely on sicknote and the young lad Camera who at this moment in time will be required to hit 20+ goals as you cant reply on what we have left but i'm sure the club wouldn't be so stupid as to not have a replacement signed up before ST deadline tomorrow night ............ or would they

To be fair Collins will be getting paid a lot more at Luton than we could afford. Anyone in his position would have taken the move. Even ignoring Luton will be far more competitive than Crawley next year in all likelihood.
Family commitment now - as he said in his farewell - you can't argue about that - probably couldn't afford to move the family to the South East
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I would have thought those were things you consider when signing a 3 year deal.
Let's face it, his CV is getting a bit like Izale McLeod's. One year per club then it's time to move on.
exactly Simon
don't get me wrong i would happily move job if i had an offer of a big pay rise but in sport you must have a replacement lined up before the star of the team leaves the building especially in the close season with ST renewals closing tomorrow
no fan thinking of buying a ST would get one now - so we are back to the die-hard fans who give their blood sweat tears and stacks of money to see our lot home and away, can i bear another relegation fight which will no doubt end in relegation again this season, TBH i don't think i can
Let's not forget that Collins wasn't signed until mid July last year, although it's a far from good situation we haven't been relegated yet
Yep good job you can't be relegated in pre season 😂. Let's give the board the chance to sign a few players and see what they can do. Its a shame he has gone but its a bit of an over reaction.
Yippee Matt Harrold has signed to keep the physio occupied during quieter times. Much as I liked him as a player in his prime it seems a risky gamble based on one heroic performance in goal, one match as manager and the odd cameo as a player, or am I missing something in him? Hopefully this isnt one of Selim's exciting 3 signings otherwise the scepticism over our chances will not be an over reaction at all!

I believe Matt has reached 10 league goals in a season once in his career. In fact I don't think he has reached 10 league goals in total for Crawley yet.
Nice bloke but I can't believe the club are seeing him as anything other than an impact sub type player.
Play 2 up front, Enzio and Matt Harold. This partnership could work if they can avoid injuries. Enzio looked a better player when he played in the middle. I would also hope for a big improvement from Dean Cox now he will have a full pre season to work on his fitness. All is not lost, although i may change my view come September.
Ironically we survived the 2015/16 season with Harold as our main striker with a bit of help from Murphy and Edwards. I think we would become a much better team if we weren't reliant on one player so much. We need midfield to share the goal scoring responsibilities and on paper 3/4 do carry a goal threat.

Matt has scored 9 goals, and I'm probably one of the few fans who's seen them all live. For my sins, I try to always look on the bright side. Will this be Matt's best ever season?
