He should go now to give the new manager an opportunity to assess the squad before the transfer deadline.
But, will it happen ?
highly unlikely doubt we have an endless pot to pay Managers off. I do question upfront long term contract deals and yes more than a season initially is to me long term, especially if it doesn't go well.
The counter argument of course is we wouldn't have got £300,000 (reported) for Kewell if he had had been on a 1 year deal.

My concern is money at the club.
Yesterday v Exeter there were approx 1600 home fans to watch a top league 2 team ( them not us ) , this is exactly the sort of match fans should come to watch.
For example if Brighton were playing Man City, Chelsea and the like, they'd have a full house coming to watch the potential visiting champions.
On such a low attendance basis, we will never compete and improve, in a nutshell, you get what you pay for.
I cannot see what else the board can do to attract new fans and increase the turnover, I know they try hard, but it's not easy for them.
until the revenue increases, I can't see anything changing on the pitch, anytime soon.

Why reward failure and pay the Clown off?
If anyone else failed to do their trade, then, you would be sacked, wouldn’t even get a reference let alone a big pay off.

Cioffi will have signed a fixed term contract. Of course he should be paid up unless he is sacked for gross misconduct. He won't be, because whatever the view on his ability is, he is clearly an honourable man. Most of us on this forum work for a living; should our employers be able to instantly pull the plug on us because things aren't going exactly as hoped for? Especially when outside factors (Kettle and injuries for example) play a big part Decency and Law cannot be considered as acceptable collateral casualties in the pursuit of success

I do think Brighton's success in the top flight hasnt helped but that said i believe we are selling quite a different 'product'..... trouble is until (and this is long term stuff) we convert enough kids to supporting Crawley we'll struggle to grow our fan base. The club have sensibly priced kids admission, maybe they can do more going into Schools etc and i know they do work within the community, maybe they can do more. Perhaps others are better informed to comment here. Growing the Crawley 'brand' will take time.

Come on John, we all know that virtually every football manager who gets the sack receives a pay-off unless it’s for some sort of misconduct. Let’s not suddenly go all ignorant just to have a pop at Cioffi.

If the reported figure is true then that was brilliant deal for us. I'm sure that money was a much needed boost for the coffers, but what a huge waste of money for Notts County that was, they would have had to pay him off to sack him as well, what a spectacularly bad deal that was. Most clubs in this league wouldn't pay £300K for a player let alone a manager!

The club website lists 33 players and 10 coaching staff/analysts/DoF etc. I believe 5 players are out on loan, and some others will be minimal cost, but even so this is quite surprising for a L2 club with gates around 2,000 and no reserve set up.
Half the players never seem to play - how long have Van Velzen and Boadu been at the club now?? And let's face it at the end of last season everyone wanted Palmer gone, now they are desperate for him to start.
Its quality not quantity that gets you out of this league as Wycombe proved.

Shocking weather, tedious recent performances and cost of several home games in a row. Plus carrier bags at home, WHU v Spurs live on tv with rain falling after it finished and all add up to what we got. Decent winning product on the pitch is main thing though and that we definitely don't have. We now seem to have gone from talk of play offs to the most positive amongst us congratulating the team for a battling 2nd half in defeat. Personally would like to see an away keeper have to get his knees dirty for starters!!
