I was just wondering what your thoughts were about completion of this season.
Lots of talk about it in the media, shall we finish this season, or scrap this season and start next .
I know it's all depends upon when we get back to normal lifestyle.
I reckon we won't be out of lockdown until at least the end of June, so on that basis, my view would be to finish this season , have a break, then start a new short version season in January, then go into the Euros next summer.
Finish current season is essential to integrity and i dont care much beyond that. Yes a new season brings new hope but lets finish what weve started first. A shorter next season seems sensible and/or scrap the mickey mouse cup trophies.
To re-start though you have to factor in a few weeks training and a few friendlies (which is where ive mentioned elsewhere Id like to see the moneybags premier teams play away at neighbouring lower football pyramid clubs to generate some much needed cash there: Crawley v Brighton, Horsham v Crawley for example)
I think the season MUST be finished however long it takes. If it has to restart in 1 month, 3 months, 6 months- whatever time period, it has to be finished for the integrity of the game in the spirit of fair play.
P.s I think it was disgraceful how the non league season has been scrapped without any proper consultation period with the clubs.
Has to be completed this season - next season should be just the league season with no play offs only promotion and relegation of the top and bottom clubs - also with no cup competition except the FA Cup and no replays from the start

absolutely some non-league team that had ALREADY 'achieved' promotion have been let down terribly.
A lot of players contracts finish in June. There will be plenty of problems if the season were to be extended past June. Do you extend the transfer window? There could be a situation where a club is just outside the play offs and invests heavily to gain promotion. No easy solution.

good points made here but i would anticipate and hope the football authorities will fund a solution here, perhaps in consultation with member clubs.
FA Chair warns of clubs going to the wall. Given Crawley have one of the lowest attendances in the league is anyone else concerned Crawley could be one of these clubs at risk?

Given that every club is currently getting attendances of 0, I don’t think that has a huge bearing on whether or not clubs are going to survive at the moment. The biggest factor is the depth of the owners pockets at each club

I accept that but surely its bigger than that..what marketing revenue is coming in on a business not operating? Bar takings? Function bookings? Advance season ticket sales etc? An update from our owners pockets would be timely appreciated.
personally i think the season should be scrapped at all levels now the non-league seasons have been finished it seems grossly unfair some clubs wont be relegated because lower level football has been canned so it must be an even playing field for everyone in my book,
however what do you do about the Bury situation and L1 having just 23 teams? so my theory opens another can of worms quite frankly
How can a season be stopped then carried on in a rush style 4-5 months later? Its laughable.
This a global bad situation....there are more important things than finishing tge season.
The long term effects of this situation are going to be felt all over.
Also I think quite a few clubs will loose a percentage of their average attendance. People just wont be able to afford to go football. Also things like restaurants and theatres will be hit. When the pubs reopen they will do well.....for about 2 weeks then people will have to prioritise their finances.
My opinion is that a lot of football clubs will be in for shock....

I think you’re right, there will be a lot of clubs in for a shock. Particularly at lower league level.......at a time when they will be asking for a revenue stream with season ticket sales, I would be you any thing you like they won’t be getting many.
Priorities you state. Football has been my life for.......well my whole life actually, and football for the rest of this season or next.......is so far down my pecking order of priorities and worries that I’ve actually really rather shocked myself. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still keeping a keen interest......but when you really are talking about people’s lives, their livelihoods, their family situations and let’s face it the general knock on effect of this whole situation, it’s not hard to understand why the general feeling could and most certainly will be apathetic.
I echo the sentiment that a lot of clubs will be in for a shock, not just lower league clubs, some championship and even Premier League clubs could be in for an almighty shock between now and the end of the year. Not just football clubs, how many businesses have enough cash flow to survive 2-3 months (maybe more) with little or no income and bills still to be paid? Many clubs, particularly in the lower leagues, will run tight budgets as it is I would imagine, don't know how many will be able to overcome this.
