We’re hiring a consigliere. The EFL rulebook is super long and we have a lot of owners with crazy ideas.
What an opportunity, someone who would guarantee us a top 7 finish this season... ...joins up with owners who are guaranteeing promotion in the next two seasons...
...it has to be a job for... Crawley57away's Mum...!
Seriously: It does them credit to spot where specialist knowledge is required. The devil is in the detail of the EFL rules and we have breached them enough times to know that it can be costly.
I do find it a little bit frustrating they didn’t decide to keep Erdem on for a year or so, it’s not as if he didn’t do a decent job with limited funds and he’d certainly know all the booby traps about keeping a club of our size on the road
I'd guess Erdem came along with Ziya Eren and often at clubs where there is a regime change the new directors are installed straight away after the takeover is announced. I'd imagine Erdem was heavily involved with all the negotiations regarding the takeover and may have already advised them a bit about how the club has been run since he first started working for us, but once it's all sorted there isn't really any need to keep directors from the previous ownership around (unless it was a club legend)

Perhaps he didn't want to stay? Perhaps he didn't buy into their model?

You don’t have to buy into their model to do transition work short term, you just have to keep the show on the road before it happens. Taking experienced people out of the top of the club with no obvious replacements experience wise is risky

Of course, but you are assuming Erdem didn't have other things lined up.
