Carlisle have Received a £400k Offer from a League One Club for Luke Armstrong. Hmmmm Wonder if it’s us? Well it is a 1 in 24 Chance at Least. He would be a Good Buy!
Did well when he was with Harrogate but came to a halt with his progress at Carlisle.
If it is us ,which I doubt because of the size of the fee, then I’m sure SL could kick start his career again.
Wrexham agreed a deal for Armstrong and it fell through at the last minute a season ago (?). My guess would be them but I have no insider knowledge about it.
Yes, I always thought he was a handful when he played against us but given the size of the quoted fee and what has been happening over the past few days, I really can’t see that we would be bidding that amount.
So far, including released players, we have lost and gained:
1) Keeper: Addai has left and vital he is replaced by an experienced keeper just as good
2) Defence: Lost Johnson, Maguire, Omole, Ransom and Wright. Made start here as Barker, Flint and Malone have joined
3) Midfield: Lost Davis, Kastrati and probably Gladwin. No replacements as yet, but needed
4) Wingers: Lost Tsaroulla and probably Gordon. Papadopoulos has come in but need another
5) Forwards: Lost Campbell, Lolos and Orsi. Lolos and Orsi scored 40 goals last season so vital get someone in who can score 20 in a season. Again area recruiters need to concentrate on. Hepburn-Murphy joined so far.
Let's hope recruiters work to bring in replacements for the players lost. I feel goalkeeper and a top striker are the two players we need to ensure we get right.
Non negotiable on my shopping list is a proven keeper. I would spend a large chunk of the budget here, add 2 very repeat VERY physically strong experienced defenders. If we want wing-backs fill that role and then TWO proven goal-scorers. I realise thats not the wagmytail model and I be lucky to get any of the above. If (cant believe Im looking optimistically at "if") we struggle we may need to play long ball and a tall strong forward that can hold the ball up could be essential to recruitment.

Agree with you on the keeper and strikers. Hopefully Malone may be one of the experienced defenders, but also feel we require a strong defensive midfielder too.
We were spoiled having Corey and unfortunately we may become only too acutely aware of his absence even more when we start to ship a few more goals this season than last.
Like George, I believe it’s essential that we get a decent keeper and quickly, there are big shoes to fill.
Who knows we could get lucky and find a gem or our current reserve keeper decides to become the new Pickford overnight and seize his chance to make his name in the first team.

I am not sure about Armstrong. I think League 2 is probably is his level. 3 goals in 21 appearances is not good enough.
Hoping we sign at least 3 players next week so Scott can start training and assessing them, but important we get the right players, so happy to have trialists make up the numbers initially, to ensure we bring the right people.
Assuming we continue to play out from the back (highly likely as PJ has described this as our way of playing) then our new keeper has got to be really comfortable with that. I think the shopping list here gets much shorter. I seriously doubt our coaching staff and SL want to get a GK changing approach that much at the same time he gets used to a new defence. Add a high press from attacking play and who knows where this goes. Lets not forget despite the heroics of Corey even after months of 'familiarity' we had shaky moments from him too in defence. It's so important we start the season well and part of that has to be with not an experienced keeper, but a very very good, very experienced one. Doubt there are many about. I wonder if we will look abroad because if it's a non-league GK please CTFC have a look at what happened the last time you went to Burgess Hill and alike.

Glenn Morris? Short time contract followed by a coaching contract. would make the women in my family extremely happy.

SL said in an interview on fixtures reveal day that he wants the team to be even more of a passing team than last season.
Didn’t think that was possible!
So the passing from the back thing will continue for sure it seems.

You would hope when Wagmi decided to sell Orsi, Lolos and especially Addai, they had options identified, and had started discussions with the relevant clubs. I would guess that Hepburn-Murphy is a replacement for Orsi or Lolos, unless he is intended to replace Campbell.
Hopefully they did not say " oh we have just sold our best two strikers and goalkeeper, what are we going to do?" I hope to see replacements for Addai and at least one of Orsi or Lolos signing next week.
