Kewell was terrible in U23 football, and did okay here (or at least well enough to get a bigger gig).
Someone like Rusk who knows the club, lives locally and is actually doing very very well at U23 level should, in theory, be even better here than Kewell was.
Drummy was too old and set in his ways. He started his 'proper' football management career too late in life and couldn't really adjust to it.
See Freddie Ljungberg is 16/1. They must think hiring managers who were brilliant players in the early noughties is now our thing.
Out of interest the first manager in the home Broadfield dugout after Kewell leaves is Simon Rusk who has just seen his team thrash Man City 5-0. He is unbeaten against Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham this season also
huge difference to teams he manages and league two/Crawley
Also huge difference in Kewell’s record as academy manager to Rusk’s who now is about the best around in England. Still coaching kids at u21 didn’t work out for Southgate either huh

According to the Daily Mail online, the well known bucket of shite, Omer Riza is interested in our vacancy, loads of experience, 7 matches as manager of Orient with just the 5 defeats and is now coaching at Watford academy, sounds like we could have a really exciting future under a man with that background .......
I am a fan of John Yems because he got a decent set of players in - Ben Hamerfor one - and some good results for us.. but most importantly, he did it not just with a very small budget, he actually did it while having that budget cut.
Although HK going might be the headline, the real story we need to be worried about is the US tariff on Turkish steel imports & the impact on their currency & exports.

Indeed, the Turkish steel industry hasn't been in the best of health for some time anyway, when I mentioned that quite a while ago it was just brushed off as though it didn't mean anything to the assets that would be available for ZE's football hobby
I note that Jay Saunders is not included in this poll, yet he is the bookies favourite. Any opinions on him?
utterly hopeless
Back in the real world he got Maidstone from the Rymans South to Conference National and kept them up last season. Shaky start this year after selling their 2 best forwards Pigott and Hines in the summer.
Basically achieved more than HK has done so far in management.

As usual, Thad is the fount of all knowledge and clever enough to draw our attention to the Turkish industry & currency situation and their implication on the affairs of our football club. Lets hope the connections remain Turkish and the fans don't become turkeys! btw, if my memory serves me correctly, this guy A. N. Other has applied for every single managerial vacancy that has ever existed, AND NEVER GOT THE JOB!
