Anyone who thinks last night was anything other than exceptionally unlucky needs to give their head a wobble.
A very promising performance and a very unfair result. The players are clearly improving, getting used to the manager's demands and it surely won't be long before we start stringing some wins together. They won because they have Sam Hoskins and we don't.
Would be handy if we didn't have about 17 players out injured too.
Nothing to do being unlucky. First goal poor defending from a long throw, the manager identified the long throw threat before the game yet we still didn’t deal with it. Not unlucky. Second goal, error from the keeper, out of position and too slow getting across. Not unlucky. Third goal, Mason bad control lets them in right at the death. Not unlucky. If you think last nights defeat is just a case of bad luck you need to give your head a wobble.
www.crawleytownfc.com/news/2022/august/northampton-town-reaction--kevin-betsy--james-balagizi/ “deserved to win” , “second half we were exceptional”, now we can see where the problem lies he thinks we did well FFS we lost conceded 3 goals! he criticises the ref saying the second Northants goal was never a free-kick, oh hear going down the Yems slippery slope with refs are we Kev? He says we were the better team but lost – how the **** to you measure better Kev? 1 point from 12? Losing at home? Conceding 3 goals? Perhaps you can get the players walking dogs in training see if they can hang on to the lead there. “We’ve done so well today” excuse me for laughing at you Kev, not! Look at yourself man we LOST! He still wants to strengthen how many players do you need to realise its YOU that's the tippy tap problem.
In all fairness, the Referee was absolutely woeful at very best - worse than that Clown, Kettle.
Two of their goals resulted from poor refereeing.................... But, we must stay mentally alert until the final whistle.
JTG
Only a few games in and were starting to blame the ref - don't make excuses JTG as all teams face the same

Nice try. All three goals were excellent finishes from them. We were comfortably the better team, especially second half. If you want to find fault, you will.
NTFC fan in peace here…I think one of the previous posters summed it up in a nutshell. You have signed 17 new players, when Brady took over we lost all the time. Success has come through stability and slowly working out which players are worth and which aren’t. As a club we are at a stage where we have a solid core and we can be discriminate on who we add. I really thought in the second half you were superb and you would score the winner. You won’t get relegated but maybe this season is about building a solid infrastructure which at our level is important as we operate without crazy chairman throwing money at problems!
When players get used to tactics then there isn’t an improvement straight away. Look at Klopp initially at Liverpool. Betsy has a plan and it will take time. Kewell was f**king clueless btw!
You created extremely good chances…. If Telford was fit it may have been completely different (was shocked you signed Telford, who seems average but gobbles up half chances).

Oh thank god, a life saver. I was about to head to homebase to buy some rope after reading this forum
If I see the phrase "tippy-tappy" again, I'll even see if some string from Aldi can do the job
As fans we want it all…. And we want it now…. That’s not a practical viewpoint when it’s about philosophy more than big signings. It’s about approach and trusting the manager that there plan is the right way, it may not be in the long run though I agree. If you look at Man City and Pool, they both have a clear blueprint of how they want to play, look at Man United atm and I couldn’t tell you there plan. We as a club have improved with limited resources on the relationship with fans imbuing a positive vibe which in turn has improved all facets of our club…. Sorry week off work and been on the Chang and booze and too talkative by half😘

I'm not really sure what we're now classing as 'tippy tappy' football, yes Carlisle first game was an absolute shambles but we have seen steady improvement since then and that's all we can ask for if we're being realistic. If last night was tippy tappy football then fine; we tip tapped it into the net twice with 2 great goals, give me that every day of the week vs the route 1 dross we have seen in the past. It would have been great to start the season unbeaten and sit in the autos after 4 games but that was very unlikely to happen, some people cant seem to accept that we're in a transition period and people coming out saying the manager is now under pressure is laughable. I'm sure he puts himself under pressure but that's the only place pressure will be coming from. If we're in the same position at Christmas then I'm sure his tenure will be looked at.
You've hit the nail on the head. Ok, I'll say what I think is wrong with the "tippy tappy" narrative and how it's a pretty daft way of describing anything about our football.
First off - as Jim has noticed because he's trying to have his cake and eat it, we are still playing way too much long ball that simply means the ball comes straight back at us in wave of attacks. It was a problem last season and it's pretty much still a problem even with Betsy. People who didn't rate Betsy's appointment have grabbed at this criticism of overplaying even before we kicked a ball in League 2 this season and are simply ignoring the evidence of their eyes in keeping up with it. We don't do that, it was much more a problem in the first half that we kicked ball away rather than that we played slowly around the back with it.
We should be looking to become a team that is comfortable in possession, and in fact Northampton gave us a lesson in calm, purposelful, possession football in the first half last night that totally took the sting out of our early goal. Whatever you call it, possession football, tippy-tappy, or dominating the ball, I don't care, we need to do more of what the top teams in League 2 do. And I genuinely believe that's Betsy's aim. How far has he got to go, probably a long way we have got to be honest, despite our improved performance last night.
But that's OK, as our Northampton pal on this thread has indicated, these things always take time. Crawley fans are the most fairminded bunch around, the Orient loss overreaction was a mix of things going on there as much about unease at all the changes at the club than the football. But the Bristol Rovers win has changed everything, we will always back green shoots in a fairminded way. We will carry on doing that for a while, in my view.

We were going to hang Kewell's head on the wall as a trophy, but we couldn't find a wall big enough.

Was that last comment a bit of a cheeky dig at Wrexham by any chance?
But yes, no doubt with quite a drastic revamp of the squad it was going to take time to work properly and I have already seen great improvements at this point in comparison to the first two league matches. Also, I seem to remember Thomas Frank lost 8 of his first 10 games or something as Brentford manager, and now their fans absoulutely adore the guy for what's happened since
What I was trying to say and you are completely failing to see Steve is that we are falling between two stools. Whether by design or accident I dont know.
We are slowing the game down by passing it between our defenders, getting pressed and then hitting a hopeful hoof.
Now, slowing it down and then speeding it up is a good thing to do if done with correctly. The speeding up part must start with an incisive pass not a hoof into space.
However, even a hopefully hoof can work out if done quickly into prearranged areas. The Man Utd teams of Fergusson used the tactic with the ball over the top for Giggs.
You just carry on agreeing with people who don't care about our team and disparaging everybody who disagrees with you.
