I know Steve didn't make the other poster up. He posts as Eric Sabin on the one football forum (I believe). He is quite knowledgeable about the game but he is a Northampton fan who doesn't care about Crawley. If he posted on here agreeing with say...redtiger... he would be treated as a leper and told to go to his own forum.
You disagree with me Steve. Fine, no problem but the back and forward is getting nowhere and is a little dull. To surmise: you think Betsy is a good manager who deserves more time to get things right. I think Betsy is a very good coach, learning about management, who has had a horrible start to the season which has, in all probability, put him under pressure.
With the budget we have why did Betsy bring in so many young academy standard players and not get in a few tried and tested L2 players. Was it because that's all he knows, was it because he feels he can control young players and cannot stand any older players pointing out another point of view. But no we have signed a bus load of young academy players and the majority just are not up to L2 standard. i know people will say what about the B team well unless some of them are fast learners we should ship them out at Christmas and get some players who know L2 and will safe guard our L2 existence. If we carry on playing and the results stay the same i don't think Betsy will make Christmas.
You’ve hit the nail on the head there. The scary part is how many academy players go on to have successful careers in the football league? The stats aren’t great. This is the world Betsy has come from and worked in over the years, and I’m sure he has faith in the youngsters, so that’s what he’s signed. Some will have good spells, but will they be able to produce enough good performances over the course of the season? I don’t think ideally he would have played any older players, but the with results, performances and injuries it’s forced his hand a bit.

The thing is he spent his entire playing career in the lower leagues so he must know what it takes to achieve success... or at least I hope he does. He needs to learn fast and the 2nd half showed a different game plan to an extent. I would like us to play a system that ALL the players are comfortable with...I favour a 442 until we get some decent wing backs who can do the job and not defenders/midfielders just filling in there. Keep the faith...for a few more games at least.

It was a political appointee, from day one, by the gate crasher owners, not suitable or up to the job.

So have you got your Fulham ticket yet for this “horrible” start? 🙂
Yeh we disagree, it’s not really a big deal and we may well disagree more in future, it’s one of the functions of a forum. But it’s a long season and who knows it may not always be the case
On the subject of Academy players, surely Balagizi, Ogungbo, Balcombe and Omole have looked excellent so far? Tough crowd
As Abraham Lincoln said ..............
"You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.

Balcombe? The keeper who lasted half a game! Omole only lasted 2 games so 50% injured. You must be very easily pleased. Balagizi has looked the best of the bunch of youngsters, but let’s not forget he’s played 3 league games and lost 3, so Its going to take me a bit more convincing Kev’s transfer policy is working.

Omole looked a very decent CB in the games he played for us. Him being injured doesn't change that. Virtually all our CBs are injured at the moment. Does that mean Lynch/Ludwig/Conroy or Adebowale aren't any good either?
Balagizi is a very good attacking midfielder who has been fantastic for us so far. Top scorer too 😁. It wouldn't surprise me if he's up for player of the season. Don't diminish his achievements because we haven't won in the league yet.
Mazeed looks ok, he's adapting to first team football and the rigours of L2. I think he'll do well for us. Betsy knows him from Arsenal and obviously rates him. Jenks hasn't had enough of a chance yet but if he can provide more dynamism to our static midfield that's a good thing.
It's not like the entire team is made up of PL academy players. But with the horrendous injuries we currently have there will be a lot of youngsters called upon, and expected to do a job.
KB may well know his first choice team, but I doubt he's had the chance to play them yet. We're dropping like flies at the moment. The injury situation is somehow actually worse than last season.

If you are criticising players for getting injured, I think that's bottom of the barrell scraping to be honest.
Is your point that Academy players shouldn't be signed because they are more likely to be injured than players with Football League experience?

Spot on. It would be interesting to look back to the threads on here a year ago when we were losing a lot of games at home under Yems because of his terrible problems with injuries. There were fans who didn't make allowances for that and ripped into the manager, there were those that did make allowances and pleaded for patience. T'was ever thus and I guess will always happen

Errrrrrr Conroy, Telford and Johnson?
That wasn’t my point at all, but I don’t think you’ll get the point. I was more amused that you were praising the manager for signing a player that had played 45 mins! You ever thought about being a scout! But errrr yes younger players are more likely to get injured, especially when they have gone from academy games where the results are not so vital and now exposed to l2 games where everyone is fighting for their lives. Also the training will be more intense then they are used to.

I was praising him because every fan who bothered to make the trip to Carlisle praised him. I'm going to go more with their opinions than yours, hope that's OK
