A contract with an enhanced wage till the season end for Lewis would seem a good idea for him and the club if he's successful a contract extension if unsuccessful there will still be plenty of options out there for the owners.
We can't keep Lewis in an uncertain position - it is unfair on him to continue indefinitely as caretaker. I am very much in support of Lewis and what he is doing but equally, we don't know if this is a temporary bounce or the new normal. So far so good but it can only be a matter of time before the players he is leaving out of the squad/first team start complaining and it is important how he deals with that. We also don't know if Lewis has the experience to conduct a successful transfer window.
Personally, I would give him a three month manager contract to the end of January. See how results are stacking up and how he has done in the transfer window. If everything is in a good place, I would then offer him a longer contract.
LEWIS YOUNG'S RED ARMY!
I think our players have more about them than throwing a tantrum and asking to leave if they aren't in the starting 11. We've got a massive squad for this level - some players might well be loaned out, but I don't see any of the experienced lads asking to leave just because they are not currently playing. They will be under contract and will have to fight for their place in the team the same as all players do. Plus the amount of injuries we are continuing to have, most of them will get a chance at some stage.
Telford might be miffed that he's only on the bench recently, but with Nichols and Nadesan in such good form he will know he has to wait for his chance, and then grab it with both hands when it comes. He's on a good contract - he will stick it out and force his way into the first team I'm in no doubt.
As for Lewis not having the experience to deal with the transfer window, it's not a big deal. He's been in the game a long time, he might not have the contacts that Yems or Betsy had, but how many more players do we need? Our last 5 managers were all rookies but I didn't see anyone saying that they wouldn't cope with the transfer window. Lewis will do just fine - we do have this DoF to help him out (incidentally, how much experience of a transfer window does our DoF have?)
A three month contract? That would be WAGMI saying here you go Lewis - we are just waiting for you to f*** it up. They need to back the manager and give him the job until the end of the season. If they do, we will still be playing League football next season. The players are fully behind Lewis and playing for him - it shows in the results and in the performances. What the hell else do you need?

Just noticed that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is 'evens' with betting boys & girls! Same as Lewis, with the rest miles off. I know this doesn't necessarily mean anything, but still...he did well with Burton the 1st time round, Burton the 2nd time and Northampton not so...

Was that Hasselbaink I saw down the bookies earlier?
As I’ve said a number of times, I just hope the anti-Young brigade when he was a player don’t take the first opportunity to turn on him, e.g. when heaven forbid he loses a match. That’s why I would be very wary of him getting the job permanently.
In the poll at the start of the thread I voted "someone else", but without a clear idea of who that might be. Lewis Young is winning me over with an unbeaten run, but I still have some reservations. Can team spirit and hard graft replace the tactical nous of a wily old fox? Sometimes.
Lewis is now fav on here ahead of anyone else. If he doesnt get the job until at least the end of this season it will be very unjust.
Great job so far but he hasn't got the half the experience Betsy had so why take another chance?
Betsy had zero experience of being a first team manager and it showed, Lewis was caretaker manager for us at the tail end of last season so he DOES have prior experience. Look at the difference he has made - to tactics, to goals scored, to morale, to team spirit, to results....... WAGMI need to give Lewis the job until the end of the season.
Betsy took us to bottom of the league. In just a few matches Lewis has pulled us out of the relegation zone. No need for change. It's the CTFC way to constantly change managers every 5 minutes. It gets us nowhere.

nothing stopping you changing your vote if you so wish.

Betsy had experience in football at quite a different level and this was a major contribution to his downfall. Lewis on the other hand knows L2 and the players.

We should have stuck with Kevin using that argument!

Done! I didn't realise that was possible. On other forums I use (not sport related) the vote is unchangeable once you make it.
