Welcome Matthew. I hope you have a long and successful spell with Crawley.
Some advice from a know nowt. Keep it simple to start. The last boss seemed to confuse the players with his tactics and Young had success by going back to basics.

He has to work with the players he has so unless he feels like Betsy they can play like Barcelona, I cannot see much changing immediately. January could be interesting, unsettling disastrous or the making of the season.
Shocked and disappointed with the news. Thought Lewis deserved it til the end of the season unless there was a more experienced manager available. Hope it works out because if it is another Betsy situation, we have no one to fall back on to get us out of it as Lewis has done post Betsy. League results under Lewis show 3 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss which is top half form.

Indeed it could be interesting. Let's hope he can unload some players, terminate loans etc as we will otherwise have the Yems squad, Betsy signings and Etherington players.
On the hire, personally I'm surprised as there was no urgent need to replace Lewis. On the other hand in the last few years most teams going up have done so with unproven managers. Let's hope Matthew has spent a couple of hours looking at what happened with Betsy so the same mistakes are not repeated.
So underwhelmed with this appointment; not sure what the Owner's obsession with 'data driven approach' is but I hope it works better for the new management team than it did for Betsy. Worrying times.

Indeed worrying times. It became enjoyable again as we got our club back under Lewis.
I would have liked someone with more experience but Lewis had next to none and surprised many. It’s a shame ME is being written off before he even steps foot in Crawley, says something quite dispiriting about fan culture these days or at least the online version of it
Would we really have been any worse off giving Young the job till the end of the season and see how it goes. Given this season it’s very unlikely we’re going to get promoted and on current form under Young we are in course to stay up. Will be tough for an inexperienced U23 Manager to come in mid season with all of Betsys dudds. Surely we’d have been giving the new manager a pre season if we were going to hire another unproven manager.
Maybe this is just a reflection that despite all of the bluster about getting promoted in 2 seasons and with all the money this NFT thing is supposed to bring in that Crawley are still not a very attractive prospect for a new manager and experienced mangers that have won at this level just aren’t interested.

I think the fans on here will be no different in their opinion to those on the terraces.

Not who I would have picked but he's Crawley manager now so he gets my backing until he's had sufficient time to show what he's made of. He at least said in his first interview that he's all about creating chances and scoring goals, which tbf neither Betsy or even particularly Youngy were capable of even with our attacking riches. If he knows how to get the best out of Telford, Nichols and Nadderz then great, and suggests it'll be a more direct style than Betsy at least. Darren Ferguson seemed to like him and he's always had a knack for mad attacking tactics. It should be fun if nothing else if we get Peterborough style football.
He and Davies have apparently been watching a lot of our games recently so they will have seen what our recurring issues have been, and it sounds like this was in the works for a while, they presumably just thought it was the best time to do it now with the 10 day gap.
