What really p1sses me off is having to talk, think discuss Kevin Betsy I hated the football he brought us down to a level of despair I never want to go to again GOOD RIDDANCE and yeah of course Im concerned we may have a repeat of that it just wasn't a pleasant experience going to Crawley games during Betsy's time in charge and that wasn't just the results. That's it no more Betsy talk please and COME ON ENGLAND!
The only stat most of the fans understand is how many times we get the ball in the back of the net and did we win. Football is really a simple game, get the ball in the net more times than the opposition its only clowns like KB and our director of football who try to make it into a science.
Totally agree Trevor - most supporters are only driven by the number of times that their team puts the ball in the opponents net - no other statistic counts - what does 90% possession mean if you don’t score -
I agree Alain, only too many fans seem to still moan when we win if we haven’t played champagne football.
The owners are all about the stats no wonder none of the players wanted to take a shot or make a killer pass, if would ruin their pass completion and shot accuracy! Even when we were losing every week the Wagmi crew and Betsy kept bleating on about how good our possession stats were!

Absolutely no one in this thread has mentioned Betsy except those trying to get a dig in at the new manager before he’s even overseen a kick of the ball

And they are all numpties. Don't pay any attention to them.

It's obvious our American owners don't really have a clue about football, especially L2 football and what's needed to compete. I am hoping that Etherington does, and that he's not shy about telling WAGMI what's needed so that he can actually start winning games rather than worrying about possession and pass completion stats.

Isn't that why they employed Galley as they recognised they needed more local know-how? No one believes you base a gameplan around stats, that's playing Fifa, the real debate is whether you do what the likes of Brentford and Brighton have done to be successful which is augment traditional football expertise with analytics, it's not an instead of but an extra dimension of expertise
I liked Etherington when Bradford loaned him from Spurs, a pacy and direct winger, just the type of exciting player that fans want to see.
Semi interesting fact - during Matty's loan his dad joined our board as Commercial Director and then was part of a consortium who tried to buy the club but the deal fell through.

Well that was a shock. I am pleased he's brought Simon Davies as his assistant. I've always liked Davies and particularly since he smiled at my dog when leaving The Seaburn Hotel with the rest of the Everton squad for his post-lunch, pre-match stroll along the promenade several years ago; evidence of how a small gesture can leave a lasting memory. Any appointment is a risk and it is well nigh impossible to know who will be good and who won't. My feeling is he probably won't but good luck to him. Betting on football is now forbidden to him but he can do this bettor a favour by lifting Crawley Town into the top-half of the table by the season's end.

That's handy then we have an assistant that can smile at dogs. We also have a manager that gambles (looking at the Podcast thread) it doesn't look good having him anywhere near the club.
Another interesting little tale which shows Davies is a football man. Right at the end of his career he returned to his boyhood club in Pembrokeshire and paying his £3 subs played one last match for them.
