Yes, he did come across as a man whose confidence is ebbing away. It's a great pity because he has a lot to offer, but maybe not as an L2 manager/coach. Personally, I would still be open to him staying until around Christmas so long as there is some appreciable improvement between now and then. The absurdity is that we have players who are good enough to edge a play-off spot, but we lack a leader on the pitch - a league-two Roy Keane. It's unusual for pretty teams to do well without some steel as a back up for when the pretty boys' attacks break down. Ferguson did it time after time - generals in his own image - Robson, Keane, Cantona (yes, Cantona was a rarity - pretty player AND steel). Here's where the problem lies - managers often tend to opt for generals in their own image because, unconsciously, they can't have an on-pitch leader who is too challenging for them to manage. Most would see it as a threat to their authority. The best managers can put that aside. Betsy needs one or two old lags, even if one's a birty barsteward in the Vinnie Jones mould.

You don't win anything with kids.
you talk a lot of sense here. The blend isnt right with the players hence Lynch back was a huge lift. Though I disagree re timing. I want Betsy out now as by Christmas we will have one foot in the National league.

I would liken Betsy as a choice of manager, almost like getting a primary school teacher change to overnight teach 16/17 year olds.
Whilst on paper, it is the same job ( eg a football manager or a teacher ) it is totally different in many ways.
Particularly human management skills, our players are not teenagers at the biggest most resourced clubs in the UK, which Betsy has been used to coaching.
Our players are tough hard working men who are keen to earn their living as professional footballer.
Betsy is not experienced in the management of such people.
Not sure how reliable this source this but looks like they’ve finally smelt the coffee (potentially) “The source goes on to say “The position is now untenable, the ownership group are facing more criticism than their commitment deserves and it’s all down to the on the pitch performance. Kevin is due to be sacked and they’re being forced to try and stop the rot before it’s too late to change. It’s turning toxic fast and the owners have been forced to act”. Link:
A condemned man. As close to tears and resigned to the sack as you'll ever get.
Thanks for trying Kevin but it hasnt worked out, do us a favour and show some self respect. Resign.
Really? I see a very dignified, intelligent man pledging to fight as hard as he can to improve the fortunes of the club. Worth a hundred of those trying their level best to whip up campaigns to break him as a man. Good test for what the owners are all about though, maybe we agree on that one
I don't read the interview as a man "resigned to the sack". He still seems up for the fight to me and not (yet) looking over his shoulder.
He has had to deal with extensive injuries, has been unable to play the same team more than once this season and there is no doubt that we have been unlucky in some games. We have competed well at times - the Fulham game (yes it really was Fulham! - they had five full internationals in their starting line up) but other games have been a struggle.
Will we improve under Betsy? who knows, will he leave this week? who knows but I do wonder if he is just unlucky. so, to grossly misquote Cardinal Mazarin from 17th century France, rather than est-il habile? (is he skilful?) is it perhaps a case of est-il malchanceux? (is he unlucky?).

KEVIN BETSY'S RED ARMY!
Pull yourself together man! We’ve won 1 game in 11 because of poor signings, poor tactics, poor game management, poor substitutions, poor motivation, worst defensive record in the league. We blew massive part of the budget on the leagues top scorer and he can only make the bench. Poor decisions on the players we let go. Poor excuses on injuries, such as all will be ok once Telford is back and he can’t even get a game! If injuries are such an issue start training on grass! Every week it’s the refs fault. Stop with the pity party, there is only one man responsible and that’s Betsy. He took a team that wasn’t that far away from pushing for promotion, it just needed a bit more depth and tweaking which any manager could have done being given double the budget! He tried to play a style that won’t work in league 2 with his 19 new signings that aren’t good enough for this league. Now he’s had to resort to Yems players and is now playing direct with no target man. He’s completely incompetent, and I don’t get the pity party about someone losing their job. He will be well compensated and can drift back to youth coaching with his pockets well lined. If he takes us into the National league Id feel more for the staff that will have to be let go, I’m not sure they will be so well compensated.

BUT isn't the situation untenable now. Its a very small army, seriously this forum is no doubt representative of the overall fan base and the number now after 11 matches still in that army is very few indeed. That in itself is a problem he is facing a fan base that don't believe in him, of course fans are often fickle to some extent but its a massive hurdle I don't think can be overcome hence the untenable position.

Woah! easy tiger - I don't think any of your comments relate to anything I said in my post.

I am sure you are right George but until a new manager is installed it remains;

Yep Napoleon's lucky generals 'n all that. Who knows whether he'll be here 3 years or 3 more games. That will be decided in the games ahead. Campaigning for the sack to happen and saying it will happen I think is the biggest area of confusion right now on this messageboard. The only person who'll have any idea is Wagmi and they won't be telling any of us first, rightly.
